daily competition is when your numbers are published daily and you run the risk of bankruptcy if your competition is better.

I know you fancy yourself an expert on healthcare.. What are your credentials? Healthcare is not a commodity nor is it a brand like Crest toothpaste.

but people shopping for price and quality and suppliers competing for survival on basis of price and quality would reduce prices 80% and add 10-20 years to our life spans. Imagine the price and quality of toothpaste if there was no competition. Now you understand why USSR failed and why our health care is 5 times more expensive than it should be.

I think insurance companies make many of these decisions. Actually, they cause doctors to choose things that won't be as helpful as other procedures and are more expensive. But then, we have to provide for the wealth of the industries which make meds and healthcare equipment.

There is your source of problems. <--- to OP.

it seems there are always takers in the toothpaste market, but no companies want to compete in health care?
Ask yourself, why that would be true!!

in a free market the patient is the customer and the Dr. is trying to sell him the best product possible in order to survive. Highly unlikely that they would make $400,000 a year in that situation

I really hate to break this to you, but Hungary didn't manufacture a single passenger vehicle under communist rule as they were designated for heavy industry such as railroad cars and locomotives. I read a fantastic article about how Hungarians, out of pure stubborn national pride, took to building their own cars to spite the Soviets

you say "didn't manufacture a single passenger car", and "took to building their own cars". Do you see your very very obvious mistake. Hint: manufacture and build are very similar. Sorry.

he wants more free market in health care. This is good since total free market would reduce prices by 80% and add 10-20 years to our life spans

Yeah, and if they don't offer you the latest most expensive procedures and medications, priced higher than most other countries just for the U.S. market, they won't make the fortune they intend.

I've seen the industry. It's a joke. They can waste labor due to it's low cost. They can waste product because of the profit margin. You must work for the insurance industry, or a manufacturer. They are the only ones who would comment on my post.
