Twin Cities Sexual Assault Victim Doesn't Want Franken's Name on Legislation

The Twin Cities woman who helped Senator Al Franken draft a new bill to aid sexual assault victims now hopes someone else can champion the legislation.

The bill was designed to provide funding for training first responders on ways of interviewing victims who have been traumatized.

Just last month, Abby Honold stood side-by-side with Franken at a press conference announcing the bill.

Then came the bombshell report Thursday morning.

A Los Angeles radio anchor said Franken forcibly kissed her during a 2006 USO tour. Leeann Tweeden also said Franken posed for a photo with his hands on her breasts as she slept - a photo that was made public

“I was really heartbroken and disgusted, and I really wanted to send support to the victims involved,” she said.

The 22-year-old Honold first approached the senator’s office, in part, because her attacker Daniel Drill-Mellum was once an intern for Franken.

“I don’t want this bill, which could help so many people, to be associated with this kind of behavior,” she said.

She now hopes Sen. Amy Klobuchar can take it over - or anyone for that matter.

Honold just doesn’t want the legislation to die.

I dunno - I like you ThorInc, but you're kinda wrong here on a couple levels. First off, I'm not sure why you're discussing Trump and treason in a thread about some whackadoodle defending Franken. I don't really care all that much about the issue (see below as to why) but as I've skimmed thru the thread, I am noticing you spending a lot of time either attempting to derail the thread or discussing the posters themselves, neither of which is particularly cool. As my kids would say, you ain't representin' well. The problem isn't with the posters you disagree with, the problem - and the topic - is a feminist who feels like giving a pass to Franken when (if she were absolutely serious about feminism) she ought to be on the front lines demanding he step down. To a larger degree, the topic is also about how feminists themselves, who really ought to holding both parties accountable for how women are treated, are instead justifying the abuse when one person does it, and condemning it with another. Posters are supposed to be off-limits, and you know that.

The whole thing is essentially moot anyways. I mean, it's a given Franken is a perv - someone noted it elsewhere and I wish I could remember who, but if I tried that kind of a pose with my hands either touching OR hovering extremely closely over a colleagues boobs whether she was asleep OR awake, I could be damn sure of a call from HR a few minutes later, and my starting a permanent summer vacation a few minutes after that. Likely a civil lawsuit as well. And that's ignoring the forced tongue kiss; just the picture alone would be enough to ensure I'd never work as a teacher anywhere again. But teachers as a whole have more standards that politicians of any stripe, that's been a given for quite awhile now. I'd be fired; we all know nothing will happen to Franken.

In any event, let's say he quits. The Dem governor appoints - gee, what are the odds another liberal will be appointed? I'd say - oh, 100%. So nothing will change. Or let's say the unlikely occurs and there's an ethics investigation which will worst case slap him on the wrist so that - nothing changes.

If she is like most fems she has nothing to worry about far as groping is concerned. Most of them have this look about them that says manhater,lol.

 

That's a good question... If he would have 100% grabbed/fondled, and she would have woken up and confronted it at the time, I would easily go sexual assault.. Since she didn't (see below), my assumption is he didn't make actual contact, thus it's sexual harassment at most... I suspect somebody is going to bring up coma patients who are sexually assaulted as being similar (oh yeah, that happens), but for obvious reasons, those cases have to be fully documented by a 3rd party or visuals anyway.
