    but make it a felony with mandatory sentence when a cop abuses that power, be they volunteer or professional
    so that is what your saying Trump did that was so great? "attacking peaceful protestors for a photo op"

    Sovereign immunity for good faith/honest mistakes would be more appropriate for volunteers than for professional police, but anyone who commits felony should be prosecuted.

    Do you have a source for the attacks on peaceful protestors for a photo op?

    They were not peaceful they were refusing lawful orders to move, the night before had firebombed the church and earlier in the day tossed water bottles at the Attorney General and others. They had three chances to move then mild forms of non-lethal force was used to remove those who refused to move. These groups injured over 50 Secret Service agents the night before.
