    Agree 100%.

Our Command Sergeant Major said that very same thing, surprisingly, way back during the troop surge. Roughly "This place is comprised of multiple tribes who have all been fighting each other for generations who then come together to fight off foreigners then go back to fighting each other. And we're supposed to bring democracy here and stabilize this place? Seriously?"

We keep using anecdotal evidence to justify this never ending war. "Oh well it's working because we haven't been attacked since 9/11 have we?". Yeah there is no way to quantify that at all. There is no way to directly say that our involvement in Afghanistan is the reason why there have been no more large scale terrorist attacks. We weren't attacked BEFORE 9/11 either and we weren't over there and the place was still just as chaotic after the Soviets left until we showed up.

People thrash on Obama all the time but one thing he did right was utilizing drone strikes and Special Forces. This is their war. This counter insurgency crap is not my job nor the job of the conventional US military. We are not Team America World Police. Let SOCOM operate there in small cells, hunt these people down, and drop bombs on them from unmanned aircraft.

None of this nation building, none of this spreading democracy nonsense. The flag on my shoulder is the American Flag, not the Afghanistan Flag nor the Iraqi or Syrian Flag. Let me make it perfectly crystal clear, I don't give one iota of a damn about the quality of life of people in 3rd world nations. That is their problem. The Taliban is a brutal oppressive regime that forces it's will on innocent Afghani people. Sucks for them. Their plight is not worth the blood of American lives. Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator who forced his iron will on the Iraqi people. Sucks for them, that's not our problem.

We are not the UN peace keeping forces, if a nation has a human rights crisis or whatever then send them. We are not the police force of planet Earth and the crappy lives of people living in oppressive countries is not our problem.

I have no problem smacking the crap out of those who threaten the United States and our interests. As a famous Medal of Honor recipient said if you want war with us then someone else will raise your kids. I have no issue with going full blown scorched Earth on enemies of the United States. But that's what we should do, you threaten us, we walk in there and we make you pay dearly for it and then some. And then we leave. We don't rebuild your country, we don't spread democracy and freedom, we seriously hurt your feelings and then we go home. Your country being left in ruins by us is the direct result of your country pissing us off.

Rebuild it your damn self and don't threaten us again and we won't have this problem. And all of these evil oppressive regimes? Leave them be. They are STABLE. North Korea for all of it's horrific crimes against humanity is STABLE. Iraq under Saddam was STABLE. The people living there under crappy conditions takes a back seat to the stability of the place. Unstable nations create terrorism that we have to deal with. Stable nations, even though they completely suck for the people, aren't terrorist nations. That's what matters when it comes to whether or not Americans should go and die for something.
