I wasn't talking about unborn babies. I was responding to the post that said down syndrome babies shouldn't be born because of the terrible suffering they supposedly go thru. My point is that in general , down syndrome adults treasure life more then lgbt. Which puts that posters argument away.
I have no obligation to repeat myself I was quite clear. "What's next? Babies that might have the wrong hair color?" Having trouble reading tonight?
If having downs is so terrible that death is preferable, how come theres still adults with downs syndrome? If they were better off dead, wouldnt they all commit suicide? Im sure they would all prefer to not have downs, but killing them in the womb is the same as saying they're better off dead, which Im guessing almost all of them still living would disagree with.
I don't think many people with Downs have the ability to contemplate whether their life is worth living but if they do it still doesn't have anything to do with a woman's right to abortion. If she thinks she doesn't want the trouble and expense of having a Down's child or doesn't want to condemn it to a life with Downs, it's her opinion that counts, no one else's. What born people think has no bearing on what a fetus would think if it could which it can't......you're talking emotion not facts nor law.
Townhall Hmmmmmmmm Downs is not a syndrome with only one issue. Downs also carries huge risk of cardiac anaomalies, luekaemia and a shortened life span In the USA about 20% do paid work........... Think about that 80% will not be able to independently support themselves.......... They have an increased risk of dementia and can rarely have children themselves Given that information and thinking of the welfare of the child, would YOU continue that pregnancy?
I replied to that post, obviously you had trouble reading it : ... """""""""""""""""""""Is it? How ? Where? When? Abortion has been around for thousands of years .......how many people do you know who aborted because of hair color ?? FoxHastings, Today at 9:07 AM Report"""""""""""""""""""""""""""
No, once born there is an obligation to care nd nourish My question is "what proportion of societal resources are you personally willing to allocate for the lifetime care of this child?"
That's a misconception. Downs comes in all different flavors. Some of them (although less common) are quite near to normal intelligence, or at least on the lower end of the bell curve. I was surprised too when I saw a kid on TV who was articulately carrying on a conversation and expressing concern for his brother. Of course the way he was talking seemed younger than his age and just ever so slightly off, but still he could have probably passed for a normal teen if you only met briefly in a casual conversation. His face was a little strangely shaped but not so strange that you would immediately suspect an abnormality. Now it's true some of them are on the level of animals. The thing is that the chromosomal abnormality isn't the direct cause of the decrease in intelligence; it leads to other brain growth abnormalities during development, which affects some individuals much more so than others.
Here's the UNcherry picked post: I don't think many people with Downs have the ability to contemplate whether their life is worth living but if they do it still doesn't have anything to do with a woman's right to abortion. No one is arguing a woman's right to do it under the law, we can all agree to the stipulation that abortion is legal under the law OK?
That is because of a thing called mosaicism Again I ask "what proportion of societal resources are you willing to allocate?"

Address what I asked No one is arguing a woman's right to do it under the law, we can all agree to the stipulation that abortion is legal under the law OK? That is not what is being discussed here. OK?
What proportion of societal resources are you willing to allocate for care of the less fortunate of these children and adults?
My, Don't you have a control issue ! Oh, ya, you are Anti-Choice.....my answer to your silly little demands ?
I was commenting on your statement and you know it don't play dumb. You know the you even bolded I don't think many people with Downs have the ability to contemplate whether their life is worth living but if they do Now your trying to pin YOUR statement on ME so you can run away from it or something?
