So, we can add, "rant," to the list of things, along with sarcasm, for which your understanding is meager. You call Kavanaugh (without any specific justification), "brilliant." I referenced one of his "brilliant," responses: "I like beer!" This does not qualify as my ranting.

What you have, thus far, offered, I will add, I do not rate to pass muster, as much of a conversation, nor even the wan shadow, of intelligent debate. So why not let's just quit, while we are only a little bit, behind?

let me know about your legal training before I explain why kavanaugh is a brilliant jurist. If you have no such training, you most likely wouldn't understand. the stupid comments about beer are juvenile insults

Well, everything that you have written, thus far, including this claim, that I wouldn:y be able to understand, why a particular jurist is "brilliant," tells me that your overall intelligence level is mediocre, at best. I am sure I could understand any concept which you could. The problem, of course, would be that it would take someone who was intelligent enough to explain the concept, competently.

Along those lines, I will point out a non- legal mistake, you made in just this last post: "the stupid comments about beer," were made, in truth, by your so called, brilliant jurist, Brent Kavanaugh. Nor were these particular responses of Brett, insults-- though they certainly were puerile.

P.S.-- Let me guess: are you the only "no" vote, on this thread's poll?

All of you Constitutional scholars remember that one of the many things States cannot do is restrict travel in or out, doncha' ? We are not Russia with internal passports.

How would you enforce this travel ban? Are pregnant women to be held captive in a state now? apprehended at border checkpoints trying to escape? How would the Pregnancy Patrol determine? Are we just going to imprison all women of childbearing age in their State now?

Jeez Louise, we're going along just fine and suddenly we're in "The Handmaids's Tale"

Fine, The Republicans have TRULY shot themselves in the head this time. Enjoy your new age theocracy, for a few years. You will not see its like for long or ever again.

My first thought to this question is how on Earth do you stop her. The only way you can ban somebody from traveling to another state whatever they wish because that's a right guaranteed by the Constitution is if they've been incarcerated do they have to stay local to fulfill their probation.

I think it's strange for even entertaining the idea that you could forbid travel between states for lawful reasons.

I like your idea about creating a charity for to help ladies that want an abortion travel to a different state. But they won't do that because it's not about people it's about ideas.

Actually our incipient rapist doesn't like beer. No one who appreciates beer, good or otherwise, would inject it up their anus to get higher faster. Justice Kavanaugh is a simple degenerate, a lying piece of filthy feces who is now in a position to take revenge on the entire gender that refused to offer up their bodies for his perverted and depraved gratification. Hopefully his decisions will be lost in the 5 or so new judges that will reverse this oppressive tyranny and make his tenure one of the many disgraces the Republicans have visited on us in just under 5 years.

NOW do you see why you must NEVER stay home in ANY election? Those who love tyranny and thirst for oppression, both of others and even themselves somehow, are ever watchful and ready to steal our rights if we only let them for even a moment

I think folks are looking at this wrong. You don't have to ban interstate travel in order to penalize a woman who goes to another state and has an abortion. A law can be passed that bans residents of such-and-such state from having an abortion. Or as I said earlier, a law fashioned after the Texas law that allowed anybody to sue an abortion provider or any person who helps a woman get an abortion.

The penalties would occur after the fact, after the woman returns. Lets say someone knew a woman was pregnant, knows that woman traveled out of state, and knows that woman is no longer pregnant. That someone turns the woman in to the authorities, or initiates a civil suit. An investigation by law enforcement or an attorney's office occurs and finds the woman is no longer pregnant and that there is a reasonable suspicion that she had an out-of-state abortion. BAM, penalties, whether that be in the form of jail time, fines, or damages in a civil suit.

I'm not saying that's necessarily legal, but what I am saying is there are kooky enough people out there in some of these states who WILL try things like this. How successful they will be and how much support they will gain for their attempts is unknown. Hopefully it's little to none.

I'll leave this post here as a prediction and hope I find myself proven wrong down the road.

Starbucks and Amazon will pay employee's travel expenses. That's a brilliant idea, have Medicaid pay travel expenses for those on it. It would save a lot of taxpayer money in the long run and be a selling point for conservatives.

You make a good point. Most of the time abortions save the taxpayers lots of money by not having to support poor people's babies for their entire lives. Not to mention the crimes they go on to commit. I'm changing my status to pro-abortion.

No state can pass a law governing what a resident does, when they are out of state. This is just too basic of a concept to believe, as over-the-top as some of the Republican Pro-Life efforts have been, would be thought could be challenged.

I join you, in hoping that there is some bottom to the willingness of some, to ignore all else, in the interests of preventing what they see as the murder of babies. I guess we will just need wait & see.

That doesn't make sense. Blue states prosecuting residents from red states that cross into blue states for abortions?

What states have discussed outlawing residents from crossing state lines for abortion?

States should respect the sovereignty of other states to make their own laws. Punishing people who go to other states sort of subverts this.

So now your govt is stopping your freedom of movement?
    Holding you à prisoner?
See, this is how authoritarian govt creeps into your life. Excuses always have some écho of reason and as you nod through small pieces, you suddenly réalise what the picture on the jigsaw really looks like.
    And it is too late.

By which I mean those in states with no/restrictive abortion rules crossing into those with more liberal rules, I understand Texas introduced legislation to prosecute those who facilitated such journeys.

There are organizations that take donations for exactly that after Texas passed their abortion laws. I expect far more to be set up as well as companies, like Dick's Sporting Goods, offering to financially assist their employees needing to travel to seek an abortion.

I can't find any evidence of any states considering a travel ban....and the travel ban concept seems to be imagined by liberal, proabortion people as scare tactics.

So if you could show us the evidence ...
