If cisgender girls can join the Boy Scouts, can cisgender boys join a girls sport team?

Sure, but it would be a JOKE if the school still called itself a boys school, right?

So you think that the boys school wouldn't be a boys school anymore if it allowed girls, but do you think that The History Channel is still The History Channel?

Why are you obsessively focusing on the name of the organisation? Is that really what is important here? If they changed the name to something like "Scouting USA" would you suddenly have no issue with it being co-ed or would you just find another obtuse angle of attack?

It's a difference without a distinction. There is nothing special about sex in this context. The fact is that organisations names can become outdated or technically incorrect for all sorts of different reasons but it doesn't make any practical difference to what the organisation actually does.

No, we're not talking about girls are joining boys organisations. The sequence of events is that first an organisation is changed from a single-sex one to a co-ed one and then people of either gender are able to join.

What you are actually objecting to is the change in the traditional structures of organisations. You're not alone in that kind of opinion and not alone in not being entirely clear about it (even to yourself). Good or bad though, change is part of life.

Um...no. The Boy Scouts made a choice. Not me. You get that right? Again, it’s the Boy Scouts who chose to allow girls...not me. Clear?

'Scouting USA' would be fine, because that's not sex specific. The Boy Scouts of America still think that they are the BOY Scouts, even though they allow girls.

Sure, and the idea of the thread is to give your opinion on that choice.

And I said I didn't give a rats ass what the Boy Scouts CHOSE to do. If an entity of any type wants to INCLUDE more then why should anyone care?

So you're now suggesting that you have no issue with the BSA going co-ed, your sole objection is that they didn't change the name?

So then logically you wouldn't give a "rats ass" if girls were allowed to join boys teams.

No, when I said that "'Scouting USA' would be fine", I meant that it would at least make sense.

You seem to have run out of objections then.

I already provided my opinion on this. Depends on age and sport...see post #60

Are you talking about co-ed teams?

This isn't about trans people. The MMA equivalent to a girl joining a boys team, is a girl fighting in the men's competition. Which would result in death to the woman, but that's a separate issue.

No, I object to the Boy Scouts destroying its tradition of being BOY Scouts. If it was the only way for them to survive, then I guess it was a good move, but who knows.

Yeah I think so, but I'm not really concerned with what they decide to call themselves

Then why not stop bouncing around irrelevancies of sports teams or organisations names and just explain exactly why you have such a strong objection? Do you have some kind of deep emotional connection to the history of the organisation? Do you have some kind of general objection to long-established organisations ever choosing to change in any way? Is it just some kind of knee-jerk reaction to something you feel is part of wider social changes you don't like, even if you can't explain why? Do you just enjoy being contrary?

Except that your objection doesn’t matter as the decision was solely up to the Boy Scout organization.

When did I say that my objection DOES matter? Exactly, NOWHERE!

Because they seem to think that they are still the BOY scouts.

And yet you felt compelled to tell us all about your objection. But good to know you realize it means nothing.

That's back to complaining that they haven't fully changed the name again, but you've already claimed that isn't your only objection. You just seem to be unwilling or unable to explain what your objections actually are. If you still can't do that, we'll just have to assume you don't really have one and you're just making empty complaints for the sake of it.

Why would they change their name if they think they are still the Boy Scouts?
