Yeah, great economy Obama and congress. Nice work Illinois bureaucrats. Make sure you take care of your own career and your pals first, though. And those unions and pensions. Keep calling for more illegal aliens to come to your city Raul. Because you care so much about those hurting --- that is, except for all those dying or living in fear with your unattended gang violence.

This nation is so in trouble, economically and beyond. There is so much corruption and personal greed at every level of government, and a media that is almost as corrupt as well. Illinois leading the way of ultimate massive destruction of a society.

Illinois Comptroller: "The State Can No Longer Function"

    By Tyler Durden 06/20/2017 http://www.zerohedge.com/print/598357

With just 10 days to go until Illinois enters its third year without a budget, resulting in the state's imminent downgrade to junk status and potentially culminating in a default for the state whose unpaid bills now surpass $15 billion, Democratic Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza issued a warning to Illinois Gov. Rauner and other elected officials on Tuesday, saying in a letter that her office has "very serious concerns" it may no longer be able to guarantee "timely and predictable payments" for some core services.

In the letter posted on her website [4], Mendoza who over the weekend warned that Illinois is "in massive crisis mode" and that "this is not a false alarm [5]" said the state is "effectively hemorrhaging money" due to various court orders and laws that have left government spending roughly $600 million more a month than it's taking in. Mendoza said her office will continue to make debt payments as required, but indicated that services most likely to be affected include long-term care, hospice and supportive living centers for seniors. She added that managed care organizations that serve Medicaid recipients are owed more than $2.8 billion in overdue bills as of June 15.

My Office has very serious concerns that, in the coming weeks, the State of Illinois will no longer be able to guarantee timely and predictable payments in a number of areas that we have to date managed...

Ten days of bad news for 10 days of a Springfield special session

    06/20/2017, 06:13pm

Not a day goes by when we don’t hear from somebody with bad news about Illinois.
Credit rating going down, bills piling up, people moving out, roads crumbling.
A state falls apart in endless ways when it goes without a budget for two years.

But on Wednesday, the state Legislature will convene for a special 10-day session, called by Gov. Bruce Rauner, to finally — once and for all, no doubt about it, cross your fingers and hope to die — pass a budget. Should you care to hope.

We can’t emphasize it enough: Illinois really is taking a hit every day. Consider these ten bad news stories in just the last ten business days:

No more Powerball or Mega Millions: Lottery players won’t be able to buy tickets for those lotteries after this month if the state doesn’t pass a budget. Without a budget, the state isn’t authorized to make the proper payments.

A Bleak jobs report: When it comes to jobs, Illinois is moving backward. The Illinois Department of Employment Security has announced the state is 23,300 jobs short of the peak employment reached in September 2000. “If Illinois had grown at the national average over that time, the state would have an additional 650,000 jobs,” Jeff Mays, director of the agency, says.

Red light on roadwork: The Illinois Department of Transportation says it will shut down roadwork if lawmakers don’t pass a budget by June 30. Drivers still will have to maneuver through chaotic construction sites, but no repairs will be made. Workers will be sent home.

Outrageous borrowing: Chicago Public Schools will pay a whopping 6.39 percent interest in the first month of a $275 million adjustable-rate loan to complete a pension payment before June 30. The district has to make up for a grant the state has failed to deliver because of the budget impasse. CPS will have to borrow more — an additional $112 million is needed to fund district operations.

Medicaid payment: A federal judge ruled that Illinois must make a more substantial payment to Medicaid providers, in accordance with federal consent decrees. Medicaid patients and state officials are negotiating a dollar figure, but providers are owed more than $2.8 billion. To comply with this court order, the state could fail to make other court-mandated payments.

Desperate measures: An Illinois Appellate Court dismissed a lawsuit brought by more than 90 social service agencies that haven’t been paid in two years. If the state doesn’t come through, they’re out of luck. And so are their clients, including victims of sexual abuse, domestic violence and AIDS.

Unpaid bills: The state surpassed $15 billion in unpaid bills. Over just ten days, the state fell behind by $86.3 million.

    Junk status:
Moody’s Corp. downgraded the credit ratings of five Illinois universities to junk status. Southern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, Governors State University, Northeastern Illinois University and Eastern Illinois University all got hammered.

Bankruptcy talk: Articles by both CBS News Money Watch and the Fiscal Times raised the possibility of Illinois filing for bankruptcy. That actually could prove to be unconstitutional, but hows that for a terrific double-whammy hit on Illinois’ national reputation?

The ultimate bad news: Illinois, as of Wednesday, will have gone 722 days without a budget. And the news grows worse by the day.

It's not surprising. I've often wondered how many other states just like this will have the same problem crop up. Liberal policy destroys nations.

Reading is not a liberal prerequisite to giving an informed opinion, apparently.
You remind me of Nancy Pelosi --- "We Have to Pass the Bill So That You Can Find Out What Is In It"

Nor do I see where I exonerated any republicans.

Yes, he is, and the state legislature is democratic. Since he won't sign a budget that doesn't cut expenses, and the legislature won't send him a budget that does that, they are at a standoff.

Honestly, I hope he tries running for the GOP nomination against Trump. The guy has way more backbone.

I remember learning in college that public institutions cannot file bankruptcy because they have the power to tax.

    Just let that sink in.

Millions of workers paying billions of dollars in taxes. All they are required to do is govern, nothing more, nothing less. And they are quite possibly bankrupt.

It is like the NFL filing bankruptcy because of the referee's expenses.

Well how does that square with this article?

    https://www.forbes.com/pictures/eji...pal-bankruptcies-in-u-s-history/#3400822a1c76

I did not research the ramifications of any of those cities or counties court filings, but I would be curious to know the order of who gets stung holding the bag of useless IOU's? I think you cut higher official salaries drastically first and then maybe a portion of pensions?

But, to cap off a sterling performance, Illinois has mandated a $15.00 per hour minimum wage! Watch the companies start migrating out of Illinois to a state like Texas! Watch the numbers of people who actually work for a living and who pay taxes in Illinois drop like a rock. Watch the numbers of companies that cut personnel and start using new, innovative robotic technologies skyrocket. The government never had any damned business creating a "minimum wage" in the first place. Now, it will contribute greatly to the destruction and ultimate bankruptcy of insolvent liberal piss-holes like Illinois.

Right, it was Obama's fault. He passed through the state several times over the last 8 years.

Wow, a state full of nothing but Liberals is failing at money. Didn't see that coming. So, which lonely GOP official are they blaming this all on?

When they get refused support from the Federal government, they will regret that whole sanctuary city deal, I bet.

    That's nice.

If there was no stimulus, there would not have been a recovery from the Bush recession.

Well if you are going to correct me then you should also contact the NBC, Huffington Post, and about 50 other sources who reported on it. The City of LA got $594 million, these two agencies below received the most of that and the city auditor reported the following.

“Of that, the transportation department received $40.8 million and created or retained 9 jobs while public works received $70 million and created 45 jobs.”

    http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/l...s-Funds-Creates-Few-Jobs-103107409.html?amp=y

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/wendy-greuel/audit-of-federal-stimulus_b_719817.html

This one below is even more amusing.

72,000 stimulus checks sent to dead people; only 55 jobs created in L. A. from $111 million funding

    ANN BRENOFF, AOL.COM Oct 8th 2010
About $18 million in stimulus payments went to people who were either dead or in prison, says a government auditor in a new report. https://www.aol.com/article/2010/10...to-dead-people-only-55-jobs-created/19666811/
