Not a bit of it. Even here (not America), there are some areas I can travel to where I will literally look like the town junkie ... just because I'm fit. I look painfully thin amongst the morbidly obese majority.

They hate you reminding them of their failings. They want you to join them in their 'using' because it normalises the behaviour. Don't oblige!

I don't know anyone who would encourage poor eating (hardly anyone in our circle of friends and families is overweight), but I do know drinkers who get sh!tty when you turn down booze. Same deal.

It does seem geographical, I agree. Though in my country it's not related to climate. It's far more about money. The poorer people are, the fatter they are. Or should I say, poverty and obesity seem to go together ... both caused by a third thing - laziness.

Where I live it effectively is banned. We have one fast food outlet in an area spanning some 10+ towns. No more are wanted, or allowed.

Who DOESN'T eat nuts every day? Maybe in America it's different?

They do seem to be a universal staple in this country. We east huge quantities of almonds, cashews, pistachios, macadamias, etc. Many of us even grow our own. I have about 15 macadamia trees ... and they're all prolific :p

Congrats for staying fit and for eating right. I don't do carbs either, other than a few good ones, no more than 50 to 60 per day, and I stay fit. Health is a political issue for me, since health choices effect what healthcare and insurance cost. When I have to pay extra for mine, to pay for some unemployed lefty who is puffing smoke and sucking on a 2 liter soda, I tend to get more vocal about health. I am ok with people smoking, junking fooding, not wearing seat belts, not wearing helmets, drugging, etc, as long as they pay for the damage that they inflict upon themselves, but when it comes out of my premium, I see it as wealth redistribution.

Do not ban junk food, just make sure that those who use it are financially responsible for their actions. I don't want to pay extra in my premiums to cover heart surgery for some fatty. If he can afford the surgery himself, then bon appetit.

Or proof of special health insurance where the premium has been adjusted to reflect the higher risk of ingesting poison.

I was just probing around on the internet. Heart disease costs are more than $316 billion per year! 1 in 3 deaths!

You should understand that many people literally love to eat. They don't care if they look bad because they're fat, they really don't care if they get sick and die. Their attitude is that you may live longer but why would you WANT to if you have to give up one of life's main joys? I can't really say I disagree all that much really. Their attitude is partially why expensive restaurants stay in business there are several food channels on tv, chefs are famous, etc.

Americans are like me they loves food more than small eating.

    - - - Updated - - -
