The House is finished except for their gamesmanship. Trump could argue that not delivering the articles to the Senate violates his 6th amend rights to a speedy trial. The articles allege he committed "high crimes", so this would per se be a criminal trial even though its being heard in the senate and not a traditional court..

 

So, use Impeachment, a duty that was only meant to remove a President only in the most extreme cases, as a weapon against your political opponent. Yeah...that's really going to go well...

You assume that is what would be said. You also assume that the Senate will even call him. Something that the Dems should have done in the HoR... even if they had to take the time to go through the courts. Why didn't they do this?

If he just said that? I doubt it would change anyone's mind. Remember, the narrative is supposed to be that he did it for campaign political purposes to affect the 2020 election. THAT is what has to be proven. Simply holding up the aid to announce investigations is not going to be enough. Most know that doing such is well with in the power of a President and has been done by other Presidents. We have whole treaties that were made due to quid quo pro, bribery, extortion...whatever you want to call it. It's one reason why Dems didn't put those words in their Articles of Impeachment.

No, the only thing that will convince Independents and Republicans to support impeachment is if you can prove that Trump did it for political gain. Assumptions will not work. Opinions will not work. Innuendo's will not work. Only actual proof will.

 

He has as much power to do what Pelosi claims her power is to withhold from the Senate.
