Hello, I am a constant viewer of the political forums, and one topic that I have never touched is abortion, until now. I respect everyone's opinion, but I would like to establish mine. I believe in people being allowed to abort their babies. Personally, I wouldn't ever have my wife (if I was married) have an abortion, unless of course she wanted one. But I do believe that people should have the right to choose. I mean, people say that it's bad, it's murder, and that it is against their religion. But one thing that they're missing is that it doesn't affect them, so theoretically, who cares if they go to hell (I am not saying that they will), it's not your problem. I think you guys should just leave the topic alone, think of it this way: If abortion is legal, nothing happens to you unless you get an abortion. If abortion was illegal, nothing happens to you, but it does affect hundred, possibly thousands of people who got pregnant, and now can't get abortions. I mean, sometimes it is for the better to get an abortion. Thank you. (I just want to say I was simply stating my opinion, I was not saying that anyone's opinion is wrong)
Good point - abortion doesn't affect the people opposed to it, so it isn't like they should worry. I always wonder about people opposed to it for religious reasons - if it is wrong, then the woman would figure that out when she dies, so all they need to do is wait.
Only pro-abortion people use religion. It must be part of the script. It might be that religious people see the value of human life....and non-religious people think you can kill it if it doesn't suit you. If your future wife was carrying an 8 month gestation baby...that you could see moving and kicking her stomach, and that you could view the sonigrams---see the features and all..perhaps seeing it suck its thumb....would you think it ok then for her to dispose of it? The only reason you think abortion is ok is because you don't feel it, touch it, see it, cuddle with it....and so it doesn't do anything for you and thus its ok to kill. Perhaps people with religious values are less shallow then that....knowing that even if a human life doesn't give them a sense of self-grafication, they don't have the ethical right to kill it.
Ehh, If someone murders another innocent person... does that affect you? You shouldn't worry when you hear about a murder than, if it doesn't affect you personally.
When someone commits a murder, we hear about it. The newspapers report it and most of us feel sympathy for the victim and their family. Abortions are not reported, no one has any knowledge of a death, and thus it does not affect anyone.
What you don't know doesn't hurt you. Murder is never okay - but if the guy next door was murdered and I never knew about it, how could I possibly be affected by it?
Slavery didn't affect non-slave owners. Why did they have an opinion about it? Don't like slavery? Don't own slaves.
This is not a good analogy. Murder is a crime against another person.. and this affects the security of everyone. Abortion is not a crime because the act committed is not against a person.
That is what I have been trying to tell people. I live in Utah, and most people here are pro-life. But I am pro-choice, and when they asked me about abortion, I said I was for it. And most of them were against me from that point forward. I presented this exact argument, but they threw a bunch of religious crap in my face, and they thought they won.
Treat your slaves well; ie feed them clothe them, house them etc and you can own all the slaves you want.
Most slave owners did. Liberal hollywood shows the absolute worst slaves had it, like it was the norm. Either way it's still completely wrong.
But why? If I give you a roof over your head, good food to eat and I make sure you are healthy and well, and in return you work for me, either in my home or in the garden, where is the harm?
No no, see, slaves are your property. You can do whatever you want with them. Treat them well, beat them, kill them. It doesn't matter. You own them.
That's what I'm saying. Slaves are prperty, and owning another human being is WRONG. What if I kidnapped you from your home and took you to mine, and you were forced to work for me without pay, and I could do whatever I wanted toy ou (beat you, kill you, etc.) just because of your race? Oh wait, your great-great-grandparents were free as birds, it doesn't affect you.
When a serial killer murders a couple dozen people it doesn't affect me. Why should I care? Do you see how absurd that logic is? At least you had the respect to call it what it is, a baby. Or was that simply a Freudian slip?
Nobody in my family ever owned a slave, so thanks for playing that game. I love it how most blacks think all whites owned slaves.
Not pro slavery, nor against it. I think it depends on how well you treat them. It's a subject for discussion elsewhere, though.
