Some her say the kingdom of God is here on Earth. Some say we will go to heaven. http://www.ntbt.org/Articles/Going to Heaven.pdf This link shows what the bible says about what eternity means. Is it correct?
It wasn't meant to be a joke. This has some bible verses that point to what the bible says about eternity. I've seen poster who dispute heaven is where the dead will live forever. It is a discussion that comes up in life as well. I suppose I could've found a better? different link. But it pointed to bible verses.
What, did you almost have to think about your faith? --- I recall Revelation promising a "new heaven and a new Earth," so presumably a new Earth was to be Happily Ever After Land for all of the Lutherans.
Honestly, my first thought was that it was depicting an eternity of Hell. There was nothing there--the absence of all the good that is God. But then my atheist-dar kicked in and I realized it was just another bait thread.
It is not meant to be a bait thread. If you believe it so, you are free to not respond. My question is, Is heaven or hell the only possible outcome for christians? Non-christians need not respond. Some christians have a different thougtht on the subject and have bible verses to prove it.
If you're in search for the Heaven, you won't find it. If you're in search of the Hell, you won't find it. Actually, when your death executed, your soul will be teleported to the WHITE-BLANK. When you will live your soul's lives, your soul will stop with the transfigurations, and it will be teleported to the Heaven, and it will become an angel.
Mitt is counting on becoming a god with his own planet and harem. He's not going to be happy as an angel.
There is nowhere in the Bible where God/Jesus or any of the prophets and apostles say that Heaven is where we will live. Those who write articles like the one that the link you post leads to somehow fail to quote this scripture. Matthew 5:5 (ASV) 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. The kingdom of God is here now through God's people in the sense that God's people represents the kingdom of God and when Jesus returns the kingdom of God will be here in full. Those that teach the lie that Heaven is where the saints will live are denying the gospel that Jesus preached, and is accusing Jesus of being a liar.
Heaven is nowhere in the Bible describe as a paradise.....Jesus was refering to the Earth during the Milenium and beyond that. Isaiah 35:1-10 (KJV) 1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. 2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God. 3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. 4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. 5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. 7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. 8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. 9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: 10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Luke 23:43 Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." Paradise Greek Strong's Number: 3857 Greek Word: παράδεισος Transliteration: paradeisos Phonetic Pronunciation: par-ad'-i-sos Root: of Oriental origin cf , <H6508> Cross Reference: TDNT - 5:765,777 Part of Speech: n m Vine's Words: Paradise of Oriental origin [compare <H6508> (pardec)]; a park, i.e. (special) an Eden (place of future happiness, “paradise” :- paradise. — Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary Paradise. This is a word of Persian origin, and means a garden, particularly a garden of pleasure, filled with trees, and shrubs, and fountains, and flowers. In hot climates such gardens were peculiarly pleasant, and hence they were attached to the mansions of the rich and to the palaces of princes. The word came thus to denote any place of happiness, and was used particularly to denotes the abodes of the blessed in another world. The Romans spoke of their Elysium, and the Greeks of the gardens of Hesperides, where the trees bore golden fruit. The garden of Eden means, also, the garden of pleasure, and in Genesis 2:8 the Septuagint renders the word Eden by Paradise. Hence this name in the Scriptures comes to denote the abodes of the blessed in the other world. 2 Corinthians 12:4. The Jews supposed that the souls of the righteous would be received into such a place, and those of the wicked cast down to Gehenna until the time of the judgment. They had many fables about this state which it is unnecessary to repeat. The plain meaning of the passage is — Barnes' Notes on the New Testament
That's interesting Smith. I've always wondered, however. Isn't this a rather contemporary outlook. I know the revisionist thought floating about, even from the Vatican, no longer proclaims the idea of a real physical heaven or hell but rather these are metaphorical "places". But that wasn't always the case, was it? Isn't it simply a privilege of this more liberal spiritual epoch to suggest such things, and wouldn't it be heretical if we took this kind of thinking back a few hundred years?
The Bible tells me that the Earth is where man will live forever....Jesus made it quite clear that the Earth is our inheritance.....even God the Father it says will come and live with man. I don't get my belief from the Vatican, what I believe comes from the pages of the Bible and the Bible has to be studied in order to get a full understanding of what is being said.
Just to clarify. All those people who thought that witches were going straight to hell (just as an example)... misunderstood?
The Bible says that ALL the dead are going to be resurrected.....the righteous will rule with Jesus and the unrighteous will have their minds open to the truth and the Spirit of God will be given to them. They will live a righteous life and at the end they will enter the kingdom of God just as those before them did. Those who refuse to repent after the truth has been made clear to them will be burnt up at in the end, because God is going to change the surface of the Earth, and unfortunately for them they will be burnt up along with everything that will be on it. But no one is going to spend eternity in Hell....that is a creation of the Catholic Church and inspired by Dante in his divine comedy.
Or some think that the various allegories about heaven are speaking of the presence of God... whereas hell would be the absence of God. Not all the Abrahamic faiths believe that hell is forever.
for example: chosen ones (self prescribed) aint the meak Yep. Nature is god, we are of 'it' (god), knowing love, compassion and in EMPATHY capable of unconditional LOVE. Jesus aint the dude to finalize them facts, i am! Many lie about and use jesus' name. for example: jesus was not me.
So I guess we are either punished for all eternity for breaking silly rules, or we live forever lobotomized in a state were we feel no emotion. Sounds fantastic.
When Jesus said the meek shall inherit the earth.. He meant those with courage enough to be humble and strong. He is teaching the Sermon on the mount. It is best understood in context of the policial situation, the Roman occupation and Roman law concerning the Jews and Gentiles. Meek means strength under control. In the Greek New Testament, “meek” is from the Greek term praus.
