You're not digging yourself out of this hole.

As anyone can see, you did not claim that modern Islam is 100000x worse than modern Christianity; you claimed that modern Islam is 100000x worse than Christianity ever was in its entire history.

Lol I'm not trying to dig out of anything. Yes I said Islam is worse than Christianity EVER WAS, which means then and NOW.

Besides you are the one who offered the challenge, so you stop backing into a corner and state how Christianity is at all as bad as Islam is then and today.

Then will be easy, but today you don't have a chance at any kind of argument . It's not Christianity beheading 12 year olds and selling off women and children for sex slaves in the name of the religion.

Point is Christianity has overall stopped its stupidity, Islam is still full steam ahead with theirs.

So come on, prove me wrong. Show us your facts on how Christianity is worse than Islam.

But you're the one who made the claim. Me calling you out on that claim does not shift the burden of proof to me.

Don't forget Africa. Christian terrorism is alive and well on that continent.

You havent called anyone out on anything, just sitting there with the same old canned responses from the anti-christian/west playbook . You wanted to make the claim that christianity is just as bad as Islam, yet you have not done so other than "Nuh uh, I know you are but what am I? " responses. Go back to the sand box.

Africa is a cesspool with or without religion, and has been brutal before it was touched by it. Meanwhile Islam reigns terror in every country in the name of it's religion. If a 3rd world crap hole is all you have for a response then you have clearly lost this argument.

You are the one who said that Islam is, and always has been, 100000x worse than Christianity, and evidently, you cannot defend that assertion, since you have spent the last 2 pages trying to push the burden of proof onto me.

Considering they have started out with bloodshed and it has never stopped.....yeah they are 100000000000000000000x's worse than any other religion to date.

Now if you would please, state an argument that defies mine and stop running.

Violence in the name of Christianity started in the 300s and lasted until the late 1800s, so about 1,600 years. Islam has existed for about 1,400, which means that Christians have about 200 more years of violence in their history than Muslims do.

You're the only one who's running.

Oh so now they get a free pass of 200 years of violence? No matter that the worldaround them has changed dramatically and most of the world has become more civil?

Length is not the factor here, christians have been around for 2000 years now, and you say it took them 300 years to do something violent in the name of their religion? Islam started from day one and has not stopped, so what the hell makes you think they will in another 200?

If christianity was so bad then why did it get to stick around while Islams attempts to take over the known world of then and now were shot down and they were sent back to their sandboxes?

If Islam was so great Then why is being gay still a death penalty is Islam dominated nations? Why is punishment necessary for women who are raped? Lets take a look at Islam controlled countries and civil ones.....Where would you want your little girl to grow up?

Tell me, name countries that are governed by christian doctrine, then name countries that are governed by Islam. Which countries are more free, those with majority christian or majority muslim? Which countries prospered much more? What countries are you most likely to go to prison and be punished for believing in other religions?

There would have been no crusades had it no been for muslim atrocities and attacks against christians decades before, but of course a ton of people either don't know or ignorantly ignore that fact. And sure christians had the Inquisition, witch trials and other messes, but Islam has been nothing but a witch trial, an Inquisition and slavery since it's beginnings.

Now please, explain to me again how Christianity is and was worse than Islam.

A part those religions where the clergy is made by women and there is a Mother Goddess instead of a Father God.

Says the guy who is giving Christianity a free pass for 200 years of violence.

    I'm just stating the facts; I have no interest in predicting the future;

Show me one place that converted to Islam after being conquered and then renounced Islam after gaining independence.

I am not defending Islam; I'm attacking you and your religion.

Do you really think that Christians led the charge to legalize homosexuality?

I'll answer that question in the unlikely event that I ever have a daughter.

There might be one or two of them in Africa (I'm too lazy to check).

The historical examples of Muslim violence apparently were not good enough, since Urban II had to make up a lot of (*)(*)(*)(*) to get the crusade started.

Historically, the treatment of Christians and Jews by Muslim rulers was generally better or about the same as the treatment of Muslims and Jews by Christian rulers.

I never gave a free pass to christianity for it's violent past, or you just making more stuff up in your head?

Then recognize the fact that Islam was created on violence via Mohammed the pedophile.

Spain can be considered as one, Islam came and conquered it but the Spaniards came around and were not going to be held as slaves by their muslim masters and kicked it the hell out. Islam also tried it's hand at China, that is until Ghengis Khan shoved his boot up Islams arse lol.

Islam has tried to do nothing but conquer other nations and bring them to heel , from China to Israel and attacks all over the world on damn near a daily basis....But yet they are held down in their sand boxes.

Christianity is not my religion. And I know you wont attack Islam, you are too scared and it goes against your PC handbook.

Are you saying no christians are pushing for it? were they head of the charge, no . But at the same time it is christan dominated nations that are not throwing gays off the roofs or other punishments VIA LAW of our lands. Christians are by far tons more accepting than Islam will ever be. Go try and to a gay parade in Iran or Pakistan and see how that ends up.

    Nice dodge.

Again if Africa is all you have for any response then you have no real argument. Africa is stained with bloodshed, well before christianity or Islam had anything to do with it.

    Na not really.

Wrong, did you get that from Mohammeds playbook of lies as well? Next you gonna tell me Aisha was 19 lol. Yes, being 2/3rds a man and having to pay a tax to your rulers, not be able to say a word about your child or even wife to be married to a muslim male who wanted them, told when they can and can't pray, and other lovely Islamic rules for their slaves was oh so the same as christian and jew treatment of muslims lol.

    Get off it.

    I never denied that.

The Muslims in Spain did not renounce Islam; they were expelled by the Christians.

The Muslims never made a serious effort to conquer China (but probably would have if given enough time).

I have attacked Islam on many occasions.

The countries that you keep referring to as "Christian dominated" are some of the least religious countries in the world.

I was not making an argument. I am serious in saying that Africa is the only region of the world where any significant number of people are governed by "Christian doctrine".

Aisha was 9. That is clearly stated in the Hadith.

As armies of Crusaders made their way across Europe, they slaughtered entire Jewish communities.

Jews were expelled from England (1290), France (1306 and 1394), Spain (1492) and Portugal (1496).

Jews were blamed for the Black Death and massacred accordingly. They were also blamed for just about every economic downturn.

In the Papal States, Jews were confined to ghettos, forced to attend sermons urging their conversion to Christianity, and had to pay a special tax to fund boarding schools for Jewish converts to Christianity. Converting from Christianity to Judaism was illegal, and Jews were forced to practice Christianity if they were baptized (even if the baptism was involuntary and illegal).

In the Russian Empire, Jews were confined to the Pale of Settlement and (after 1882) banned from settling anew or owning land outside of designated towns and boroughs. They were forced to close their shops on Sundays and on Christian holidays, they were banned from receiving mortgages, and could not be given the power to manage someone else's property.

Four or five centuries ago Christianity was pretty awful.......
especially when it comes to how we treated women who were
Black, First Nations........ .or from a hated branch of Christianity that
    we were fearful of.

But..... at this time..... Islam is in a mind set much along the line of where
we Christians were in the dark ages.

Care to explain your option "No more sexist than Christianity as explained by Paul."

In Corinthians, Paul was addressing a specific problem of the Church in Corinth when he stated women should not speak in church. Corinth was the location of the primary Temple of Aphrodite, the goddess of erotic love, and sacred prostitution was a major aspect of the city. Women ran the temple, and along with the other problem s the Church at Corinth was having, there must have been problems with women bringing their attitudes from the Temple of Aphrodite into the Christian church.

In almost all of his letters and epistles, Paul named many women who were leaders of the church. In Romans, he lists 30 leaders, 9 are women. Paul had a long term relationship with Priscilla and Aquila (her husband), Priscilla was a leader in the church, saved Paul's life, and was the superior to her husband Aquila. In fact, the leader he seems to most highly regard was Lydia, who was a business owner, very successful, apparently unmarried, strong willed, intelligent. Paul mentions her repeatedly throughout his letters.

And if you mean Ephesians 5 (women obey your husbands), you better read the entire chapter and not just one sentence. Its a 2 way street between the wife and husband.

    Poll option: [Islam is]-
No more sexist than Christianity as explained by Paul.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Huh? Paul paid glowing tributes to women -
"I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church in Cenchrea..she has been a great help to many people, including me..
Greet Priscilla , my fellow worker in Christ Jesus, she risked her life for me.
Greet Mary, who worked very hard for you..
Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa and Persis, those women who work hard in the Lord.
Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too.
    Greet Julia.." (Romans ch 16)

    And he reminds us -
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28 )

If establishing gender roles is sexism, then yes, it is sexist. Personally, I do think that Islam does a good job at defining a strong patriarchy. But then again, it doesn't have to. I don't think that it's really Islam that's the issue, but the culture tied to Islam that tends to favor men over women. I'm sure that American Muslim women are empowered (well, beyond whatever issues we have here ;)). But, having been to the UAE and seen firsthand how even a progressive Muslim nation treats women, I can say that that area of the world definitely has a patriarchal society.

The problem is that most of us consider only christianism, judaïsm and islam when speaking about the religions.
But those three religions share a huge part of their conceptions.
If we consider others religions in the world :
_ India was many times classed as one of the worst place to live as a woman in the world, behind a lot of muslims countries. So I think we could consider hinduism as sexist even if hinduism can be hardly considered as a whole.
_ I red some things about Sikhism who seems to make them rather consider an equality between men and women.
_ About buddhism, It's can be hardly considered as an united religion enough. However in south east asia and Tibet, it seems their is some really misogynistic behaviours.

I would however make a difference between sexist and misogynistic.

In a pre-industrial society, 90 % of the work of 99 % of the people is physical work, their is no contraception, women are more often pregnant and have more young children who can die later.

In a society where everything is tough physical work and women can be more often immobilized because of their pregnancy, it seems logical that a sexist organization of the society appears, simply because it's more efficient.

Feminism and equalitarian behaviour are mostly enabled by the industrialization of society and the rise of non-physical works or less-physical (like assembly line working).

However, in the ancient societies, all didn't gave the same place to women. If early roman society could have been tough, considering the women always as minor, like child and that they should always be placed under the authority of a man, some nuns and different women during the 12th century seems to have got much more liberty and responsabilities.

The destiny of Joan of Arc could only occured during the late middle age, and would have been impossible later.

For the original question : is Islam sexist. Yes, at least for the traditionnal interpretation, for reasons who already exist in Judaism and Christianism, but the very authoritarian directives of their prophet doesn't help. Most muslims countries are extremly misogynistic, and even more since the rise of salafism, however, this religion is practiced by a billion people in extremly vast territories, so I wouldn't exprimate myself about the place of the women in turkmenistan for instance.

Probably the same reason women write to and marry murderers in prison. Whatever that reason is.

Islam is an 8th century mindset religion. Out of place in the modern world. Probably the only cure for it are hydrogen bombs, turning that yellow sand, black. The world would shed no tears.

One problem with middle eastern muslims, and a part of their problem is the inbreeding. The cultural norm to marry first cousins. That would explain a lot about those cultures. Inbreds.

Ah yes. Attacking Christians for their violence in the name of Jesus Christ, hundreds of years ago. Christians evolved. Muslims have not. That my friend, you cannot debate.
