Most online tests for political beliefs especially liberal beliefs focus on issues and policy positions. They gage attitudes and are too simplistic. Is it possible to come up with a test that focuses on values or how one prioritizes certain values ? This is a question for liberals rather than libertarians or conservatives.

Maybe we could think about it in the following ways :

    1. What best describes your view of freedom ?

    a. People should not be interfered with or restricted if their actions don't harm others.

    b. Each person should have opportunity and certain tools to become what they want.

    c. Both a and b

    2. The best kind of government is

    a. Small and minimal

    b. Large and centralized

    c. Constrained and cannot use power in an arbitrary way

    3. Tolerance is best described as

    a. Avoiding serious disagreements and controversy

    b. Everybody is right and deserves equal consideration

    c. Putting up with each other despite disagreements and conflicts without harming each other

    4. What best describes your attitude social change ?

    a. We have lost our way and turned our back on what is right and practical

    b. Things are better now than in the past

    c. Certain things are better and the changes were needed despite new problems and challenges

    5. What threatens our freedom ?

    a. The Federal Government

    b. Large corporations and the wealthy 1 %

    c. Both a and b in certain aspects

    6. Reason in looking at issues is

    a. Not so important

    b. The only thing that matters

    c. Very important but not the only thing matters

    7. Which of the following statements best describes your view of social problems

    a. We have tried to hard to solve certain problems. We need to realize utopia is not possible.

    b. We have not tried hard enough and certain problems can be solved forever

    c. Society is better off the more progress we make in addressing problems no matter what the final outcome

    8. How important is equality to you ?

    a. Not very important

    b. Very important

    c. Not an issue

    9. How would you feel if someone called you a liberal ?

    a. Uneasy

    b. Comfortable

    c. Don't like labels

    10. Where should liberalism be on the political spectrum ?

    a. Liberals have to move further left

    b. Liberals need to move closer to conservatives

    c. Liberalism needs to be in the center between radical left and conservative right

I'm not sure how to score this test, and the questions are may be too subjective. I do think its a good place to start. If you are a liberal what do you think ?
