http://www.livescience.com/38796-israel-outlaws-water-fluoridation.html But what about their teeth? The government needs to mass medicate to take care of their teeth. I'm glad I live in a country where I'm force fed that stuff.
Good for Israel! I wish more countries would follow suit. There is not a shred of proper scientific evidence that fluoridated water has any positive effects, including for your teeth. It can however have negative effects on the teeth of kids. Plus the fluoridation program in the USA has killed. For no reason. If you want to take care of your teeth, all you have to do is brush and floss regularly. There's no need for fluoride in your water to achieve this. Plus, you've already got fluoride in your toothpaste. BTW, don't eat your toothpaste.
My municipal water is hard water and smells of chlorine. It is fluoridated. I prefer Sparklett's fluoridated water for a clean crisp taste and I do believe water fluoridation is good for the public health. Fluoride is as effectual in avoiding osteoporosis as calcium + Vit D or hormones. Getting rid of "hard water" would do more for the public health then the removal of added fluoride. Hard water drinkers have more urinary tract stones and artery disease. Getting the chlorine out and killing little buggers with UV would probably do more to improve the public health then removing added fluoride. POINT: Fluoridation of the water supply is good for the public health. Just like making white bread makers add vitamins, especially folate to their product. Moi
A problem with forced medication comes when the side effects are worse than the benefit. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/07/24/idUS127920+24-Jul-2012+PRN20120724
Fluoridation must be working. I've drank fluoridated water almost all my life. I have all my natural teeth. No danger of losing any in the foreseeable future. At my age both my parents (no fluoridization until later in life) had been wearing dentures for 15 years. Other health effects? Today's people (if they can avoid urban homicide) have a substantially longer life expectancy. Must be doing something right.
