Whilst most people around the world want peace and for the slaughter of innocents to stop Israelis take to the street to encourage their government to continue its war.

Thousands of people have demonstrated in Tel Aviv against the extension of a truce between the Israeli military and Hamas in Gaza.

Many are from southern Israeli towns along the border where rockets from Gaza often land.

They say the Egyptian proposal to secure a more permanent truce threatens their security.

Al Jazeera's Kimberly Halkett reports from Tel Aviv.

Some might be surprised that Israelis want war, but can anyone now doubt that within Israel there are people who will not stop until Gaza is completely destroyed and the Palestinians scattered to the four winds! To those who say "Stop firing rockets and Israel will stop retaliation" it is clear that only complete subjugation will be enough for the right wing. And why should the southern Israelis want peace after all only three civilians have been killed on the Israeli side, the war is paid for by the US and at least amongst the Ultra religious it will not be their children fighting in the IDF.

Yep, that analysis is consistent with the results of a recent survey undertaken in Israel that I cited on this forum last week.

First of all, screw those protestors. Doing the right thing is never about doing the popular things, and those asshats don't know the real deal.

Secondly, I don't support cease fires either. Hamas NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER honors them and ALWAYS breaks them.

Thirdly, Hamas needs to be wiped out to the last man. If people really cared about these so called Palestinians they'd come down on Hamas and groups like them. They are the one who brings this stuff down on those "innocent" so called Palestinians. In order to wipe them you must go full bore and ignore what the popular opinion says and clean the mess up later.

And if those protestors really cared they would have protested the Palestinians being killed in other countries by Islamic forces.

And if those protestors really cared they would STOP HAMAS FROM FIRING ROCKETS INTO ISRAELI CIVILIAN POPULATIONS FOR YEARS AND YEARS ON END. This is what will bring peace.and sop Israel from lashing out at those who wish to kill the Israelis off.

No, those protestors are a bunch of hypocrites.

If they cared so much they'd protest Hamas more than Israel.

But they ONLY protest when Israel acts to protect itself.

    Hypocrisy, pure and simple.

Would you have said that to Hitler in 1940?

    Hu-huh.

It's obvious why the people from the southern cities protest against the cease-fire - they are the first ones to suffer when Hamas breakes it. And, as Tram Law stated, they always break the cease-fire.
All those talks and negotiations could work if both sides truly want to solve the existing probem and work out peaceful solution. But Hamas is a terrorist organization. They don't want any peace. And that is the main obstruction that all those mediators don't want to acknowledge.

My resentment in dealing with Hamas is exactly as you mentioned they are not a State they are a Den of Terrorists.
I think Israel should have thought about that before their entry into Gaza... The aim should have been to subdue Hamas and disarm them... To sit with them in Cairo makes it obvious that Israel is operating from stand point of weakness in their eyes. i.e. you see we made even Israel deal with us... means they recognize us...

IS. Adolph Hitler IS a popular chap. Many people here advocate his methods, althought they will ferociously deny being nazis.

    And yet here they are.

What would be Israel's interest in stopping the war? A state of war is beneficial to Israel. They can take it as an excuse to seize more land while chasing away the untermenschen that inhabit it AND suck in more Yank money.

Israel would be crazy to accept an end to the war - war against defenseless entities are fun! In this end, all of the peace propositions they offer are made to be inacceptable.
