"The only thing we can do as believers is to call the people not to give into the temptations of the devil and not attend Elton John's Russian concerts," Seidzhagfar Lutfullin, the imam of a mosque in the Volga city of Kazan told the Nezavisimaya Gazeta daily. "Divine retribution for taking part in a hotbed of sodomy will fall both on those who attend the concert and those who perform there," said the cleric from the Zakaban mosque in Kazan, a city with a large ethnic Tatar Muslim community. The cleric, known for his outspoken statements, also posted a message on the mosque's website calling the British singer "the devil's work." John and other Western pop stars including Madonna and Lady Gaga have criticised Russia for discriminating against gay people after President Vladimir Putin in June signed a law banning the promotion of homosexuality to minors. Gay rights activists say the loosely-worded law can be used to prevent the holding of any public event. It has prompted unprecedented discussion in Russia where gay pride marches are regularly banned by officials. John is set to perform concerts in Moscow and Kazan in December. He told Britain's Guardian newspaper last month that as a gay man he felt he had to go and support Russian gay people despite uncertainty about his reception. John's planned concerts have already prompted a protest from a conservative parents' group in the Urals. The Urals Parents' Committee last month wrote an open letter to Putin warning that John planned to speak out against the anti-gay law onstage and asking the president to take the situation under his personal control. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Homophobic, if you are a Muslim? This, and quite a number of the self contradictory, double standards of "new age" soft thinking, simply fails the common sense test. The trend, among politically correct "thinking", seems to be, to employ a tunnel visioned focus on any negative aspects of western culture, while completely failing to recognise fault within other cultures. Not a good formula for future planning. Australians have always been known for their head down, tail between the legs inferiority complex, the tall poppy syndrome, culture of envy, knockers, and this has been one of our major weaknesses. This LOMF isn`t evident among the compatible immigrants of this country. Should we be relying on immigrants, to inject some backbone into this country?

There are several points to the topic. For starters, a double standard is flawed logic, useless, pointless, not properly thought out. It`s similar to saying something like "When you want to fight fire with fire, remember that the professionals use water". This statement could only be made by someone completely ignorant of firefighting techniques. When you say "There are a lot of religious groups that think John is blasphemous and will go to hell, even the Catholics.", my point is, you are selective in which religious groups you condemn. On multiple occasions, you have condemned catholics, while supporting muslims. All I am attempting to do in this instance, is to point out error of logic.
Logic only applies to individual who have the intellect to process it. The rest will only pass-the-buck.

Back your "logic" with facts. Let`s begin with the double standard of supporting muslims who actively attack homosexuals, while condemning catholisc, who are benign toward them? No cheapy speak, please.
