I know what they WOULD do, because the same thing happens every time they have full control: Cut taxes and increase spending, and send debt skyrocketing and eventually bring the economy on its knees.

 

It's possible.
And the "power" is not unprecedented.
And whatever the GOP does, the left will yell and scream and cry about it.

Stay out of unnecessary wars,
Secure the border,
Balance the federal budget,
Promote energy independence and enough supply to lower energy costs,
Eliminate federal corporate income taxes on business/manufacturing done in the U.S. Raise the corporate income taxes on businesses manufacturing overseas.
Crack down crime. "Soft on crime" doesn't work.
Appoint "originalist" judges.
Go after foreign drug cartel bosses the same way we go after Al Qaeda/ISIS leaders.
Listen to the concerns of Democrats, include them in discussions, be respectful, be good winners, lower the temperature and remember that we are all Americans first, Republicans and Democrats second.

 

Yes, an actual historical norm pushing more wealth up-ladder unchecked by only promises. I do believe that this time if the OP scenario ensues, they will also consolidate power and leave 65% of Americans un- or under-represented.

 

Start rounding up every Democrat that has made false claims endangering this country and hold military tribunals.
Unlike democrats, they will have the right to a defense, cross examination, and rules of evidence and every one found guilty of knowingly
using their position to falsely accuse a president of treason, needs to be incarcerated for treason.

Then we can move to election fraud, Jan 6 videos, intimidation, and everyone involved in the 576 riots burning down American businesses and killing Americans.

If the GOP gets all 3 branches expect all those people who scream 'dictatorship' whenever Dems do practically anything to suddenly discover that the only things they really care about protecting are owning guns and the foetuses. Free and fair elections wil lbe among the first things to go. The rest will follow in time.

 

Because the last two major wars were started by a Republican.

Well, what did they do the last time they held Congress and the Presidency?

Nothing.

Sure they passed some tax cuts, but otherwise they simply performed as caretakers for the Democrats, and that's what I expect to happen if your scenario comes to pass (which I seriously doubt).

 

In my opinion, Obama, with Clinton's strong support, made war against Libya, culminating in the targeting and death of Libya's head-of-state. Libya was turned into a lawless state, with the central government controlling little more than the buildings they met in. In that lawless state, Ambassador Andrew Stevens and several other Americans were killed in Benghazi, and the Administration put out the lie that they died as a result of a riot over a YouTube video.



Then, in spite of everything Obama said about the war in Iraq, in spite of everything we should have learned from that war, Obama, again with Clinton's strong support, engaged a proxy war against the government of Syria. That led to a loss of governance in Syria, giving rise to ISIS, and ISIS swept east all the way to the gates of Baghdad, Iraq. That situation forced Obama to go back into Iraq and start fighting another war in Iraq and Syria.

When Hillary Clinton was running for president in 2016, she repeatedly said that she would establish a "no fly zone" over parts of Syria (the same thing they claimed at first that they were going to do in Libya), putting U.S. air assets in direct confrontation with Russian air assets, effectively planning to fight Russia in the skies over Syria. In effect, she was promising to turn our air power into the Syrian Rebel Air Force, and a great many of those Syrian rebels were aligned with Al Qaeda.

So give me a break.

Bush did start the war in Iraq. But I would say that Al Qaeda and the taliban started the war in Afghanistan.

Libya and Syria were Obama and Clinton's wars.

In spite of all of his other faults, Trump was not interested in forever wars and being the world's policeman, a position I supported and still do. I'm not a Republican, but I know that not all conservatives think alike on the topic of wars. I, for one, am not going to support a candidate from either party who thinks every war that breaks out in the world is our business. They are not, unless they threaten us directly.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Moron in Chief that we have now doesn't bumble his way into another stupid war.

We have all seen your idea of what a fair trial is. No cross examinations, no witnesses for the defense, and Democrats chose who can and can't ask questions or give testimony.
And you claim others want a dictatorship when you support these Soviet style committees? Don't make us laugh

 

Actually, you haven't. The hearings are not a trial and aren't intended to function the same way. If the hearings result in something that Trump could be charged with(and if they do it better be legit), then the Justice Department will make a determination on whether to charge him with a crime. A trial will be scheduled. THAT is the time where Trump and his attorneys will cross examine and call witnesses for the defense.

 

Its a fake dog and pony show for the left over 15%ers. If they had any intention of trying to find the truth they would bring in key witnesses and cross examine testimony.
Which is why this will go nowhere. Any attorney for the DOJ knows what the opposing testimony would be and they have no intention of being made fools of.
You don't hold committee hearings like a grand jury. It makes you look desperate and fake.

Its not unprecedented power.

When obama was elected the democrats had total control and rammed through their agenda. Its time for Republicans to do the same but in reverse.

If teh GOP sweeps DC, they should dismantle the govt. Abolish the EPA, HUD, Dept. or Energy, Dept of Education, Commerce Dept, HHS. Fire most of the DOJ.

And definitely abolish the FBI, rescind almost every executive order ever signed, repeal the so-called Patriot Act.

Cut the IRS, make a flat tax (10% flat rate tax, no credits or deductions) because its the hardest to cheat over.

But in reality, nothing will happen. The GOP doesn't have a spine, its filled with RINOs and pseudoDemocrats. If the Pres happens to be Trump or DeSantis the GOP will do what they did last time - fight reform, delay, lie, cooperate with democrats.

 

Then what are you so worried about? Before Trump can get in any real trouble, he'll have the chance to defend himself in court in an actual trial. You may not like the hearings. You'd be right to call out the overly partisan nature of the hearings, and the spotlight on them as a deflection from the Democrats having little else to run on.

Hearings as part of the investigation were always going to be necessary. The Republicans wanted to include people who were actively involved, even if it was inadvertently for some. They should have taken it seriously if they wanted a more Trump friendly say.

I too would prefer it were more open to counter viewpoints. I think the Democrats sacrificed a lot of the credibility they needed these hearings to represent to the people they were trying to reach. But the Republicans wouldn't be a part of it and so they left it to the opposition party and those not sworn to uphold all the fakery that is Donald Trump, including his stolen election narrative.

 

What they should do or what they would do? I don't know what they should do, but I know what they would do.

• Tax cuts for the rich
• Surging deficits
• Privatize Social Security or eliminate it altogether
• Eliminate healthcare
• Repeal voting rights, install a dictatorship

Sound familiar? These are all policies that the Republicans have demonstrated with their actions over the past few decades. And, mostly recently.

 

I would like to see the administrative state farmed out among the states.
For example, Dept of Agriculture could go to Kansas, and so on. IRS, Leavenworth, Kansas.
No one in the government deals with citizens anymore except to tax them or arrest them.
Secure the border, return illegal border crossers to Mexico.
Make voting as secure as state lotteries.
Encourage domestic manufacturing by cutting regulations, and IRS rules. And increase tariffs on China.(why wait for the shooting to start and create a sudden and disruptive dislocation of our economy?)

 

Vastly increase military spending and the overall size of the U.S. military.

Invest in manned space exploration of all the major planets in the solar system.

Restart domestic production of vital drugs and medical hardware.

Prepare the U.S. to resist EMP attack.
