As I am her to learn from the perspective of others I find that insults hinder that process especially when a request for source citation is met with insults, thus I block those who make it a habit to insult and gravitate towards those who can debate in a civil way.

Upon review of my past posts one will see many times in the past where I insulted others and I am amazed that I only have one infraction in all my time here as I use to be absolutely venomous with my words. But over time I just got tired of all the pointless mud slinging and became convinced that there had to be a better way to debate.

Today I avoid personal insults as much as I can and have found that this has had a positive impact upon my interactions with others here on the forums. As my sole reason for being here is to learn from others, it seems silly to lead with an insult. Insults are great for pissing people off but bad for eliciting a civil and productive debate.

I made the assumption that after 11k posts you would know how to block someone, thus an object lesson for me upon the risk associated with assumption. Heck, I did not even know that you can hide or reveal the option for text size and color untill a year ago. Previous to that I was baffled as to how people were using different text colors.
