It's not Neil Gorsuch's fault, but we can't support his ascension to a stolen Supreme Court seat

After the war profiteering scum of the Cheney/Bush era the Democrats have a long way to go before they can even be considered as a close runner up for the title "party of crime and deceit". Now in their infinite wisdom, the GOP faithful have nominated and elected a lying scumbag the likes of which the world has never seen. He has surrounded himself with oil barons, bank swindlers, money launderers and registered foreign agents. He is now proving that all of his rhetoric on the campaign trail was total bull **** and that he intends to use his office soley to enrich himself and his Russian mob buddies. Lol, I mean, as I'm able to see the little guy's POV, yeah, in an instance, if you're the little guy, it sucks.

The little guy however, would do well to remember Mr. Spok, our constitution, & his fellow citizens as a whole.... Throw a bit of a Kennedy speech memory, & bite the bullet.

Should that prove unsatisfying, or an impossible task, then it would be my advise to said little guy, to organize, & try to change the law.

But hey, there appears to be none on the Democratic Party side when they claim that Republican presidents should not make SCOTUS appointments in the last year of their presidencies, as noted by at least two Democrat Senators. I wonder if the next step of the Democrats will be to find some obscure woman to come forward like a lying Anita Hill?

Impeachment is a political process not a legal one.

"Section 4. The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

There's no time frame and the phrase "high crimes and misdemeanors" is not defined.

 

In other words, ignore what the FBI declared and opt for the political deballing of the presidency.

They want Trump not to function.

The Senate has the right to consent. With Garland, they simply never consented.

 

I went through this drill when Clinton got impeached.

Certainly the framers understood the terms "high Crimes" and one can look no further than Benedict Arnold to know what was a high crime. Misdemeanors were more in the vein of sleights. Such as Obama taking the law into his own hands and welcome the illegals with praise and open arms.

 

I like to show this which proves it started so long ago.

 

If a President cannot name a SCOTUS justice during his last year of office A President cannot name a Justice while under federal investigation.

 

The only case of his ever overturned. Stellar judge and stellar career. The dems are naturally butthurt after what repubs did when Obama picked a judge but they cannot stall for 4 to 8 years. Gorsuch will be confirmed. After all they started the partisan opposition to judges with Bork which even has a name, getting Borked, so payback is hell.

So, what is Obama's excuse for not suing the Congress and get his day in a court of law? He sure had thousands of lawyers to do it for him.

 

I don't believe Trump is under investigation. FBI claims the Russians did no damage. And what can the FBI charge Russians with? We play games with other countries elections.

 

I am so angry to this day over what Biden and others did to Judge Bork. Democrats never admit what a great judge Bork really was, RIP big guy. I bought your book.

 

The points are that impeachment does not require a "crime" in the legal sense and there is no time frame for the "offense."

 

This is some of how Bork got screwed. WOW, Judy Woodruff of PBS worked then for PBS. Frankly she was hot at that time. Could have used a bit more in the mammary department but that is not how one defines a beautiful woman anyway.

The POTUS nominates, he doesn't appoint. Gorsuch isn't alleged to have Russian ties, and neither are the congressmen who'll confirm him. Fait accompli ... mes l'enfant

 

I am saying that impeachment is not a legal process. If the House passes articles of impeachment the Senate has no choice but to try the president and vote a finding. The House and Senate set their own rules regarding their roles and there is appeal.

A president (or other official) can be impeached for no reason or for any reason.

So, yes, a president can be impeached for events that occurred before they actually became president.

 

It is pretty broad but generally refers to misconduct in office. It also requires a Senate super majority.

 

Says who? The Constitution isn't particularly specific in that regards.

 

Personally, I hope the Democrats hold it up as long as possible. It is a stolen seat and though it's probably inevitable that Gorsuch will be seated, the Republicans have moved everything onto a new level with their shenanigans. Let's see how they feel when the Democratic-controlled Senate decides that since Trump only has 2 years left, the seat should be held open for the next President.
