A lot of people on the right are being highly critical of JP after he gave this speech:

I don't see anything wrong with what he said.

His major points were don't be cruel to one another and be forgiving. He actually says we should not 'cancel each other out', which seems directed at the SJW culture.

The part about milk is true too. We could get our milk in a more ethical manner. We just have to stop buying industrialized food products and use food produced on farms that use holistic and regenerative methods.

So, there is nothing to be critical of in this speech. Don't let the haters, from either side, tell you what to think.

His speech was fine, i have an issue with those who attack others yet all they do is project their hatred , racism, arrogance and ignorance onto others. Joaquin didn't do that, it was a decent speech, most i agree with.

The only thing is i saw a bit of naivety in his speech. He has this idea that the natural world is so benign, divine, innocent and than we, humans, are the cruel ones. Perhaps he needs to go to the African wilderness and see true cruelty - Lions killing each other for females and even killing, eating cubs that don't belong to them. Perhaps he needs to go watch the violence chimps engage in when they gang up and torture other chimps or how predators sneak on prey and even eat them alive. It is brutal, cruel and it's called nature. Is anything we do to cows any worse than when lions eat their prey whilst they are alive? a slow, torturous death.

I agree we need to stop thinking we are the center of the universe and respect nature, not think we can just destroys everything just because we have a soul but to pretend the natural world is all flowery, innocent and harmless is just naive and untrue... it is basically survival of the fittest and the most brutal, cruel things you will ever see is in nature.

I didnt get to far in the show....Brad Pitt kicked me off. Not worth it to maintain my viewership.

I didnt hear Joaquin, but if he was respectful I probably wouldn't have thought much about it. But we dont watch the Oscar's to be at the whims of activists. Overall Hollywood has such little respect for the people that pay money to see their movies...

Toy Story guys were classy though.

I don't know if that was his point, although your point is valid. I have asked the question if we are just another species, and all species colonize new territory, usually by brute force, then why are humans held to such a high standard that we criticize ourselves as a species for colonizing the world too? Either we are just another species and deserve no criticism, like other species. Or, we are a greater species and deserve to extract the fruits of the Earth without being told we are evil capitalists. Which is it?

Now, I will say that we have an obligation to our own kind to regenerate the Earth as we harvest its resources. Honestly, I just wish people would first learn how to think for themselves, then actually do it....for once.

I only watch the Grammys for the performances. Other than that, I don't really care who wins what. I only looked this speech up because I kept seeing bits of it on Twitter being critical from the right and thought it would be a good topic here.

I have to mention that Joaquin has a real interesting upbringing...his parents were hippie types...interesting read in wiki. I can see why he believes as he does.

I don’t take any issue with anything he said, I just think we should stop listening to actors and their points of view. They make a career of pretending to be someone they are not. They are not wise, they are not special, they have not been given some profound level of insight or intelligence. They are just like you, or me, or our neighbors, or coworkers. Just average at best and should be regarded as such.

True, but given the platform, he used it well. No criticism from me, which was my point.
