It absolutely is clear. Satchel Paige is a Great Negro, according to Biden. It also is clear what you WANT it to mean but the grammar says something other than what you want it to see.

 

Its not racist so I'm calling on AJ to call Obama a "Great Negro".

Both my principal and one of my veeps are black and I've known both for a decade now. I'm gonna tell them that some posters here - just as random, non-specific examples - say that calling them great negroes isn't racist. I'll get back to you on what they think about these probably hypothetical posters.

While nearly all of my family members are of color, none of them save very distant ones (that I don't know very well) are black.

lots of words start with "N", but that only refers to one word

context means everything.... but if I was him, I would not of used the word he chose to use

he did work under a President that did use the N-word though, so maybe some language differences rubbed off, which is why I suggest no President use those words, otherwise people may use them someday in a bad contact and say... but but....

It won't work. I asked my friend and she said it was offensive; that only people of her own color could get away with it.

She did say that really really old people from generations ago still think that way, so there is that takeaway. People who think calling Paige "The Great Negro" is okay have a possible excuse, but only if they are ancient. It could explain many things.

Maybe I get it more than others because while not black, I ain't white myself.

when something is ok for one race but not for another, it will be used by both

that is why I say no one should use the word, and it not just be decided based on the color of ones skin color (the very definition of racism by the way)

I like you Fresh, I really do. We disagree on an awful lot but you are consistent in your beliefs. I respect you for that. You don't change your beliefs based on what political party some felon belongs to when they screw up.

Nevertheless, what you're asking for is never gonna happen in our lifetimes. I doubt if it ever will.

I know this: I've known her for a decade now, and we can talk about anything, but no - I would never use negro around her.

Correct, and the same applies to other 'brown' groups. They couldn't be more different to the average Progressive.

Given Progressives have rejected the very values that most other groups share and retain (family, religion, community, obligation, conformity, etc). And plenty of white folk retain those value, so it's not a race thing.

Progressives are very much the misfits, and really not fit for human society for the above reasons.

Yes, I think that fact is becoming clearer and clearer.

Teens ruined by lack of boundaries, discover that social incompetence and a sense of entitlement can be 'hidden' by calling it cool & quirky. Previously they had to man-up to the obligations essential for harmonious society, or be outcast.

Unfortunately that first batch of misfits gained adulthood right at the moment the hubris from generations of safety peaked - so now it's regarded as a bona fide option, and to hell with harmonious society. Except of course, when harmonious society is required to support misfits on their First World Problems crusades. The event horizon of that diminishing return, isn't even a thing.
