Do the 9/11 Victims deserve more? Why isn't Congress doing more? Is Stewart right to criticize Congress?

Its a dramatic statement that is obviously playing well in media but according the statement below there were only two members who flat out didn't attend. Personally I'm amazed that any of the Democrats showed up because this hearing was directly preceding the AG Barr and Don McGahn contempt vote and we all know how eager Dems were to prepare their pontificating for that sham.

What is it with democrats inviting celebrities to give testimony as if they are some sort of experts.

They did this with Colbert also.

I think they just want autographs.

When are they going to invite Rush or Hannity to give their testimony?

They know their empty-headed constituents fall for their TV and movie propaganda so they have nothing to lose. Most young people actually got their news from this unfunny comedian for years.

Not to sound callous, but these victims have been receiving compensation for 18 years. 1st responders from all other types of terrorist attacks haven't received special compensation. Don't these guys get disability and medical benefits from their employment or union contracts?

Dems are chihuahuas, nipping at Trump’s heels.

They don’t have time for first responders.

I appreciate that he sincere about this issue. With that said, the comment about an empty Congress is a little off. This was in front of a sub-committee, of 14 members...only two were not there, and I believe they actually both sponsor the legislation Stewart is lobbying about.

When they need testimony on drug addiction and criminal prescription shopping, I'm sure they'll invite Rush.

You do sound callous, but that's OK.

These guys worked at 'ground zero' and that means working in a radioactive area. Stewart has been advocating on their behalf since it all started, back when he was still on the Daily Show.

I'm surprised any of them are left after 18 years.

The Dems are not interested in hearing testimony about how their big donors at Big Pharma are out there getting people addicted to drugs.

Anymore than both parties are not interested in hearing testimony about the cheating done by their benefactor Boeing.

It was reauthorized this morning as expected, the event yesterday was unnecessary.

Right--cross the t's and dot the i's, but do nothing about it.

In that hearing, as several pilots and the head of NTSB pointed out on record, they were blaming the dead pilots for the failure of their benefactor Boeing.

Well geez man, you can't just get a law passed over night. You gather information about the issue (oversight), legislation then needs to be drafted, votes need to be taken, in both chambers etc.

At this point it sounds like the GOP controlled Senate is interested in hearing about Boeing...I don't expect the Dems in the House to do anything.

We're off topic here, but no new law is going to fix what happened with the MAX.

If they would enforce existing laws against fraud and malfeasance, there might be hope for justice.

But they won't, and that includes BOTH Donkeys and Elephants, in cahoots with their benefactor Boeing.

That's true...the Dems have protected their rich Big Pharma donors so much that only rich people can afford good meds

Why is Congress so utterly useless that it takes a celebrity for them to do the right thing?
