    This is nothing new for any country though, including the US.
    Smacks of double standards really. We help our allies even though they may be regarded as the enemy by our enemies. Surely the same is true when the other way around? Really, we can't (diplomatically) have it both ways.

    You're missing the point. Superskip. We could never achieve our objectives in Afghanistan because Pakistan was always working against us. The double game they were playing was directly against the USA and its interests.
