I disagree...Rudd blabbed on like a fool annoncing this that and the other, then trotted out Wongs and Garretts when the (*)(*)(*)(*) hit the fan.

Well, it's not an argument, it's a fact. A fact worth repeating.

The general Australian population does not elect the Prime Minister.

Australia may decide to re-elect the ALP in the next election, thus making Julia the PM (again). However, the party can remove her as PM the very next day and put Kevin back in the chair. Moreover, they can remove Kevin the day after that and put Combet in charge, and the general Australian public has absolutely no say in the matter. None.

Australia has a Westminster system of government, not a US style presidential system. Many Australians just don't understand the difference.

(*Note: the PM isn't even mentioned in the written Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia)

Yep, the PM is only a minister and thus is appointed only by the GG.

    OK OK

You've said it many times, we are all now versed in the facts.

But the fact is that parties go into elections with a leader at the helm and the populatity of that leader has an affect on the election.....regardless of the official facts.

So while we don't constitutionally have a say in who might be leader in he future (Rudd/Gillard) we definately have a say in who will lead at the time.

Gillards approval rating has fallen even further, and now we have Abbott as preferred Prime Minister!

What a stupid survey! only two options? I don't want either! We should put them in a ring and let them duke it out, Gillard would win though. She would swing her "Hippo arse" around and knock Rudd out.
