The Washington Post’s Wonkblog pointed out in August, homicides by firearm plunged 59 percent between 1995 and 2006, with no corresponding increase in non-firearm-related homicides. The drop in suicides by gun was even steeper: 65 percent. Studies found a close correlation between the sharp declines and the gun buybacks. Robberies involving a firearm also dropped significantly. Meanwhile, home invasions did not increase, contrary to fears that firearm ownership is needed to deter such crimes.
I don't believe in punishing thousands to stop a few crimes. we could lock up all urban young males between the ages of 15-30 and I guarantee violent crime would go way down
are you really asking a question that stupid? If I steal your car and burn down your house I guess that doesn't harm you either?
If govt possessed my computer and compensated me for the cost of it, I wouldn't lose my mind. A gun is about the same size and price as a laptop, right? Once again, a small appliance. Not your grandmother.
are you DENYING that AUSTRALIA's gun ban and forced buy back was not caused by the one massacre or England's collective bed wetting by Dunblane?
very few people have died from not having a computer. if someone tries to disarm you successfully and you are harmed, they should be held responsible for your injuries as aiding and abetting your attacker.
because many people might kill those who try to take their guns. and since there are 300 million or more guns, good luck.
People who are having to bury their loved ones killed by a mass shooter are referred to by some as "bed wetters".
England was hit by the Hungerford massacre and Dunblane. Being rational people the public and the politicians decided action needed to be taken to stop such senseless killings. 21 years later there still hasn't been another such mass killing. /thread
really? what do you think would happen in this country if the Democrats tried to implement a complete handgun ban?
I will predict that within the next ten years you will have at least a half dozen mass killings mainly perpetrated by jihadists.
Not the same kind of random mass shooting which is why I said no ''such'' mass killing. Besides which 12 deaths in 21 years is a great stat compared to the US.
So your gun laws didn't stop a madman with a .22 bolt action rifle and a 12 bore double barrel from shooting 23 people? Did the French prohibition against fully automatic AK47s protect their citizens?
why are so many foreigners so hateful of our rights? or is there truly an international conspiracy to disarm American Citizens?
Not using firearms so not on topic. Name one incident where Islamic terrorists killed a person in the UK with a firearm. If the UK had a second ammendment right to bear firearms the recent attacks with knives would have been far more deadly.
