I came here expecting (hoping for) reasonable, honest presentation and debate. There is simply not enough of either.
You have 81 posts.Good luck in your search. Honest presentation and debate goes on here moreso than other forums I've seen.
I don't know if you're Left, Right, or Mush-Middle. Consider staying through the election anyway... why not? I've been on this Forum for eight years and can probably lay claim to the distinction of being the most hated rock-solid fiscal Conservative here. I've learned a lot, and shared some of my own knowledge. Little of it will make any damned difference, I know, because the older I get the more I realize that everything (EVERYTHING) of any importance in this country is controlled by an elite group of über-powerful 'insiders'. As an "OldHippie" do we assume that you're a Hillary Clinton fan? Then you're in luck! The 'insiders' I spoke of colluded last year to make certain that the one (ONE) person that she could beat easily just happened to be the one (ONE) who was selected as the Republican Party nominee. Trump is a Democrat "mole", and I've been saying so all year long. Stick around. If you are on the Left, you'll enjoy the coming goodness that all Democrats will be celebrating in the upcoming year. The rest of us will be watching Moscow, Beijing, and Tehran... hoping that they don't use the impending Hillary victory to speed the further decay and downfall of what was once the United States of America.... As for Trump...? He should be nominated for Best Actor at next year's Golden Globe awards. .
As honesty goes, let's discuss the self-importance of this post. 1, you are not a current event. Beyond the other rules you have violated in posting on this forum, I find your section choice most revealing. 2, I post more in a single thread than your history. 3, this is politics... spin happens. If you are expecting the world to conform to your desires, which is the presumed reason for your attempted shaming, that is telling as well. 4, this is debate. Debate does not in any way imply honesty. On a debate team, on a stage, you do not get to even pick what side you are on. You want an honest debate, start one. I will join you there. But do it in the right section. Now lets see how honestly you address this post.
yea when i came a few years ago, i was shocked at how partisan and unintelligent the discussion is - i was expecting a lot more intelligent debate instead of partisan mud slinging where no one wants to see the other side of the coin ever - but there is also a good opportunity to learn a lot of facts / data that you may not have known - also, its nice to see a bunch of extremists go at it so you have a good idea of what the most harsh arguments on both sides are - overall, dont think its really worth spending a ton of time here, but its also interesting to hear people debate current topics
There are many people here with very different opinions of many topics. All in all, I'd say it stays very civil knowing that. Sometimes people don't do so well with opposing opinions so they won't like it here. If you came here thinking everyone is here to back you up, you will be disappointed.
If you're an old hippie then you most likely came out of the 60's and wont be liked by the vets that fought in Nam. And the whole hippie culture has been exposed (see Charles Manson ) as a wart on the freedoms of this country.....so long!
Just because he is a hippie fries not guarantee that he was anti war though it is mire likley than not that he was. I am a veteran who served in Vietnam but I am not prejudging the guy just because he may have been a hippie. My experience is that even among the hippie crowd there is a good range of attitudes. I did not agreed with the hippies but as long as they were not the type to blame those of us who served in Vietnam for the accidental deaths of civilans we can disagree but not hate each other. I save my thoughest attacks for the Chicken Hawks since they just like mist hippies did not serve but they are quick to send other to fight and die for them. I also know people who served in Vietnam but became " hippies" when they returned.
Unfortunately most of the vets who became hippies had a drug habit. But no doubt Nam was an ugly war (arent they all) and many came back with bad attitudes...how they eventually dealt with them was individual But "Make Love Not War" was a mantra of basic lust thx to the birth control pill that just came out during that period....kids being raised in communes not knowing who their fathers were (no DNA testing in those days) etc. was not a healthy time for 'our' youth!
You won't find anything much better, and you'll find a lot worse in terms of political discussion forums. Good luck.
Guess it's time for you to head back to the CNN comment board - - - Updated - - - Relax. He wasn't being offensive, he was offering a possible reason of why he might not have enjoyed the forums.
Disagree. What we have (mostly) here is a bunch of ideological radicals screaming their opinion with their fingers shoved in their ears. mostly. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
I find the most disturbing to be the "Surplus Labor" people.Where does that concept from? Ah,Karl Marx.
Okey Dokey.Cite a few Threads as example.Unless that is asking too mush. maybe yer too hard to please.Or maybe too easy a pushover. - - - Updated - - - Or ... Please by all means ... Let the door hit ya on the way out.
Gee I dunno.Ya start a volatile thread and don't even try and defend it. Most Old Hippies like myself have a Bohemian approach. A combination of a not so hateful Michael Savage along with a rather tipsy belligerence as in Charles Bukowski. Opinionated to the 9th Configuration plus Lots G0-Go-Girls.
Does anyone know specifically what this Poster { OldHippie } with a total of about 81 posts has a gripe about.
