The way I’ve always viewed this case is the guns weren’t being used as a threat, they were used as a defensive deterrent. That their house wasn’t looted and burned down, or the that McCloskeys weren’t beaten or murdered seems to prove me right.

You act like this was a singular incident. It wasn't. In the midst of 500 Black Lives Matter protesters, who have ravaged other areas of the city, tearing down a gate to gain access to a private community, nobody with any common sense could ever assume they were there with good intentions.

I'm not saying they didn't over react. I'm just saying they had every right to assume these were not peaceful protestors. I would have let them try and enter my home or attempt to destroy something before I confronted them with a firearm. And I would have weapon in hand the moment they torn down the gate.
