In any event, back on-topic, it wouldn't surprise in the least if this guy was able to con enough peoole into supporting any potential candidacy.

 

Honestly it feels more like he's trying to run on the fumes his 15 minutes of fame got him. Maybe even a way to get people to send him money. I would be very cautios about any such support until he's shown himself honest and capable.

 

We all know what let's go Brandon stands for, and this guy knows it too, so don't play us for stupid. It makes the LGB crowd look even more like they are lacking general decency.

In any case, let's find a quote in the Bible where is says it is okay to basically tell someone to f themselves. I bet you'll have trouble. I grew up Catholic, went to church with the family every Sunday, was in church youth group. I know a thing or two about Christianity. The hate the US Christian right is promoting is the last thing Jesus would have wanted. Somehow, these good Christians don't realize how they come across to others.

 

It was the reporter who interceded with the "let's go Brandon" interpretation. Now that the right's using it as a rallying cry, now it's a "slur"? I think public officials should be jeered and booed(but no further than that.) It's part of the job. If your actions(or lack of actions) impact daily life, you should expect some form of criticism('if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen').

I wish no ill towards the Speaker of the House, but I want her to lose her position, either via an election defeat or when that party wakes up and says 'we deserve better leadership'.

As to being a Christian: I am not claiming to be one, so I am not bound by the behavioral code laid out in the New Testament (I like this behavioral code, i.e. love thy neighbor, but I don't believe in god).

Now, if you claim for yourself to be Christian, you have to live by the teachings of the New Testament. That means, love your enemies, give to the poor, don't be greedy, etc. Somehow, I don't see a lot of love in the behavior of the Christian right. Rather, what I see is dislike for the people that are not like them, which is a big determinant of how they vote, and why they put their support behind Trump, who is the antithesis of a good Christian.

 

Where did the guy claim to be a Christian? Because he mentioned God you think that means he must be a Christian?

Since you're so hip to the teachings of Christianity I'm surprised that you don't know that the Bible also teaches that people will sin and fall short of the mark whether they are Christian or not.

And you may also be aware it also tells you not to judge others but I guess you forgot about that particular passage.

You Democrats sure love to hate on Christianity but you don't have a whole lot to say about Islam.

As I said, I have grown up Catholic, but I stopped believing in god along the way. Since I don't claim to be Christian, I am not bound to adhere to the behavioral code. The self-proclaimed Christians of the right, however, are bound to this code. Therefore, it is important to point out their hypocrisy when they violate the teachings of Jesus every day. Of course, they can just go to church and repent, but that doesn't mean anything if it is not heartfelt. Maybe think about that when you judge others on this forum every day.
