No, to discuss libertarianism the first debate starts with a debate on natural rights. That debate has not been addressed in this thread and is no the topic of the thread. A person that doesn't understand or accept the natural rights of the person can't possibly be convinced about any positive aspects of the libertarian political ideology because they don't accept the foundation for it.

The above simply reflects the same lack of knowledge related to the ideological founders of the United States and the US Constitution that is also evident related to the natural rights of the person. I'm not here to teach a history class in the ideology of historical individuals like Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, or Thomas Paine. Try replacing the words "My guess is" with some historical knowledge.

Right, libertarianism is only an ideology with no practical consequences for people. They don't have anything to say about immigration, defense, government spending, and a host of other issues, right?

Since there are no natural rights...that discussion is already over.

Stop. You are making me feel sorry for you.

If the major basis for libertarian thinking has to do with "natural" rights...libertarianism does not exist...because there are no natural rights. (Well, maybe the "right" to die, but that is less a right than a requirement.)

Any rights a human possesses is the result of demand of people who often had to fight and die in order to have the demands met. You have no rights that were bestowed on you by a god or by some universal law.

    Oompah!

The founding fathers did not suggest that every person had natural rights...and to suggest that they did IS LACK OF KNOWLEDGE of them and their considerations. Read the Constitution and you will see that I am right.

Good for everyone...for you and whomever you suppose you might "teach", because you have a warped view of their ideology.

Try not acting like the south end of a north bound horse.

The last thing in the world the founding fathers of this country had as an ideology...was that every person is born with natural rights.
