Which is the best? where is the best you have had? Ive had both, and I have to say NE is the best so far, but Ive had some good Manhattan too.
They're both good but I like New England best. Manhattan is a soup, New England more a sort of clam stew. Would it be correct to call it a sauce, or is it something else?
New England... hands down. can't remember the name of the place. a hole in the wall in Rhode Island, at the docks
have u had good Manhattan? Grand Central Oyster Bar has good stuff. sometimes, NE is too heavy and thick.
Manhattan reminds me to much of escargo sp? I either like clams by themselves with something to dip in or in New England chowder. Manhattan is just like a bowl of quivering snot to me.
I'm not big on tomato based soups so I have to go the New England, though I did have one Manhattan that wasn't half bad.
I do my own cooking and can make both better than anything you find in good restaurants. My Manhattan dish is sooooooooo good! - - - Updated - - - Add white wine and basil flavoring to the tomato base - the taste will be enhanced considerably.
I like both, & i've had good & bad of both. Some places excel in one or the other, so i choose the one they make best. For canned chowders, it doesn't matter. They are all pretty pathetic.. I tend to see a good manhattan as a bit healthier, so i probably gravitate toward that, to be responsible. But the decadence of a rich, creamy new england is tough to beat.
