BS. Free speech does not mean you can speak without consequences.

The Dixie Chicks can say whatever they want, but that doesn't mean I have to buy their product, and I certainly have the right to speak out in opposition to their statements and boycott their corporate sponsors and their advertisers.

The same for Bashir and Duck Dynasty. They can say whatever they want to say, but they will have to face the consequences.

And I just love it when progs come running out of the woodwork proclaiming "free speech" when its their side in trouble, but are the first ones wanting to apply a muzzle when people criticize their prog buddies.

When progs start defending Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck's right to free speech, then I'll take progs seriously.

Well yeah there's some hypocrisy here and there, both sides, no doubt. But what about the multi-million-dollar hypocrisy exhibited by A&E, who finds the guy's comments so offensive that they have to drum him off of the most popular show in cable TV history, but do you see them giving up the advertising revenue of the remnants of the season for some kind of principle?

Heh. Their advertisers may find themselves boycotted by both sides pretty soon. One for cancelling it, and one for continuing to take all of that money that's obviously tainted by those 'disappointing' comments.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of spineless weasels.

What's going to happen to all of those merchandising contracts? That Duck crap is everywhere you look these days. Must be a LOT of money tied up in it! But its future is all in limbo.

Wow. Problems of the 21st Century. May you live in interesting times.

Don't try to shift this on someone else.

Right. So the point is that conservatives are hypocrites on this issue. Good. That's settled. Now what?

I had forgotten about the Martin Bashir controversy but I found this article from Breitbart.com. Apparently, former Clinton WH press secretary Dee Dee Myers did suggest that Bashir should have been fired. That's not exactly a right wing endorsement for dismissal. The article also states:

That could be construed as a right wing endorsement for dismissal but it could also be construed as simply exposing the double standards of the network. Take it for what it's worth.
