I was “generalizing” about the lack of comments from the posters that claim to be up in arms about people reading non-sexually themed books to children but haven’t bothered to call out their team for stuff like this.

The bill in FL is currently being used to tell teachers in a few districts not to have photos of their same sex spouse in the classroom for liability reasons.

If someone thinks grooming is teaching children that gay people exist then I really hope they are not allowed around children.

    1. Its not a bill, its a law. Passed with 55% Democrat support in Florida by the way
    2. The bill isn't being used to tell teachers anything. Those particular teachers made those decisions on their own feeling they could be liable.

But the law doesn't do that. If the parents have a problem with a teacher they must first address the school board. Then the board will address the issue with the teacher before anything else can happen. If the situation can't be rectified by the parents, School board, and the teacher, then it goes a step further.

Sorry don't believe you. I think you spoke too soon with your bash and then found out it was actually a Republican bill, passed by Republicans and signed by Trump.

Your second point is incorrect — it is instructions coming from the districts because the bill didn’t have enough specifics and allowed those specifics to be written later and then interpreted by the district

Guess what! I don’t care what you do or don’t believe!

Again, I was criticizing the complete lack of outrage form the usual — who are now in here not outraged that these republicans voted against this but rather because they feel posters generalized too much.

    Priorities I guess

That's fine, but I don't see any reason why they voted no, so Gaetz's vote no on it, makes bad optics, and certainly worth discussing.

Oh we know. Why would Republicans be outraged about a bill they created, they passed, and Trump signed? Hard to take your outrage as credible, seems more likely you took the partisan bait by the divisive hacks and didn't realize it was a Republican bill signed by Trump. Anyway, it was a good bill, with good intentions, and we can agree on that.

Do you care to offer some proof of that claim for this 20 yr old law?

Or are you just defending sex trafficking?

And if you're claim is true, why did only 20 R's vote against it. One under investigation of that said sex trafficking law?

If it wasn't for the QAnon members of the R party, it would have been an unanimous vote.

It stems from beliefs that those who scream the loudest on issues, do so to distract from the fact they are the one's doing said act/issue.
QAnon has made the claim that Dem party is running a pedophile ring.
And then the 20 QAnon members of congress voted against the 20 yr old pedophile law. Only 20 out of all of congress.
And those 20 QAnon members of congress are deep into trump conspiracy theories.

Not sure what is going to happen to Gaetz, but his no vote really sticks out.

The discussion is why did these Republicans — one who is under investigation — vote against it.

Why are they given a pass but random posters on the internet are held to a higher standard than your elected leaders?

    Not republicans in general.

Just the 20 in the list. And the OP, the one under investigation for sex trafficking. The one who has a friend that has already plead guilty to sex trafficking.

    ...
The Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2022 was approved in the House for reauthorization with a massive majority of 401 votes to 20.

    What's a witchhunt?
It's a story about a member of congress under investigation for sex trafficking. One of his friends has already plead guilty to sex trafficking charges.
And this member of Congress, Matt Gaetz, voted against a 20 yr old sex trafficking law that republicans wrote in the 1st place.

This bill was authorized in 2000. Why are people giving Trump credit for this?
