https://www.uawire.org/more-than-1-...circled-by-ukrainian-forces-in-kherson-region Thanks in large part to HIMARS strikes and destruction. 2 scenarios.... 1) Mafiosi surrenders....en masse...you'll be processed according to Geneva convention....your families will be notified and can make arrangements for your removal....aka prisoner swap...whatever. I prefer a lead aspirin treatment for each of them....that's just me. 2) They choose to be dicks....no problem....a few more HIMARS.....no more Mafiosi! Simple.
Few people understand just how deadly HIMARS is. It began as MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) and with increasing range, morphed into ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) and now HIMARS. As the system has grown in range, the basic round remains essentially the same. It is filled with M442 DPICM (Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions). Each of these, about the size of a hand grenade, splay shrapnel to the sides for anti-personnel effects, while utilizing a shaped charge architecture to pierce armor underneath it. Each HIMARS round is capable of putting a piece of shrapnel in every square inch of a football field. Its devestating.
I have a question for you. Who owns this UAwire. Who funds USwire? Do you find UAwire a credible source of information and if so why? A simple question and I look forward to your answer.
I'm very proud of that weapons system as it is largely built at the huge Lockheed Martin plant in Camden, AR. I used to teach up there and many of my students aspired to work there. Or to obtain a scholarship from Lockheed Martin.
American arms manufacturers are making a fortune off this. We should be thanking Putin for letting us try out our most advanced munitions on their troops. Nothing like live fire drills to get the kinks worked out.
Reminds me of a recent thought that I had, namely that a bunch of weapon systems we've developed to be able to counter and overcome Russian systems are finally being put to their intended use in this conflict. I just hope they can make the difference in getting Russia out of Ukraine.
I'm not convinced that the Chinese will try it. But if they do, yeah, I certainly hope that we're ready. At the same time, given that China lacks combat experience, I am not too concerned about their conventional systems or their soldiers, especially where threats to US territory are concerned. They would probably have their hands full with Taiwan, and then there's the possible involvement of Japan and others in the region.
There's offices in Kyiv....as what my source tells me there. They've carried articles that other news outside ran also....so I wouldn't say it's totally off-base.
Given the present state of news reporting, the best tool we have for winkling fact from the mix of fact/fiction is time. This poor old country mouse puts 'breaking news' stories in a mental one-week suspense file. That means that some stories disappear without a trace. Those of true import will still be around, supported by verification from multiple sources. Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n hydrated.
