…The twins "are reading way above their grade level," she said after a few months of home-schooling. "They're actually moving through it so fast that they're going to complete it before the end of the grade year, and they'll actually move up to the next level."

Carter pulled three of her kids – a kindergartner and twin first-graders – from public to home-school this year but allowed her ninth-grade daughter to attend high school with her friends. Her decision to switch to home-schooling derived from disagreements with the curriculum focusing on topics such as gender identity and sexual orientation rather than core subjects like math and language arts, Carter previously told Fox News.

DECLINING TEST SCORES, SOCIAL SKILLS CAUSED BY SCHOOL BOARDS AND TEACHERS UNIONS, MOTHER SAYS

Carter told Fox News her ability to give her kid's one-on-one instruction and move at their own pace helped their academic progress.

In public school classrooms, "there's so many children that they don't really get a whole lot of individual praise," Carter said. "I'm able to give that because I'm focused one child at a time."

Texas students pulled from public schools for home-schooling increased by 40% in spring 2021 compared to the previous year…

Home schooling is the best option. It makes for academically advanced students. It gets parents and their kids away from the crap woke progressives are still infiltrating into our public schools. If efforts to change the academic performance and content through the school board is not successful in your area and the good charter schools are full, home schooling is a great alternative.

For those unable to do it on your own there are home school co ops out there with a group of parents and or a church w/o it’s own private school that have a rotation of students and teachers using an approved curriculum from one of several sources. This also helps with association and social integration with others. There are also home school groups that organize group activities like field trips, sports, and even prom.?

Sounds like a school. Kind of defeats home-schooling when you send your kids to a school.

Most of the co ops are 5-10 students total and no more than two or three in any one room with a participating parent. The field trips and sports are for developing friendships and socialization skills. They only occur periodically and not every day. An example of such a co op can be seen in the movie “Gods Not Dead 4, We the people.

If you can afford it, best to send kids to private school. We put our children in Catholic School and have been very pleased with the results.

2 of my kids were having trouble in the Los Angeles public schools. They threatened to hold them back a year. I put them in a charter program called "independent studies" and they went to class once a week and worked at their own pace at home. Both graduated early.

I went through a large Protestant elementary school through college and those schools through high school always topped public schools in academics and college entrance test scores. One must be careful with looking at private schools, particularly the elite ones as some of them are even more woke than many public schools.

That’s how my son finished high school as well. Then Covid hit and it was home all the time. He was a June 2020 grad. That’s a form of home schooling that works too.

Yeah we have been very pleased. I help volunteer at ours and belong to the perish. It's nice to see the kids pray before eating, attend mass together, pray for saints, etc.... completely different from the public school which we pulled them from.

Republicans have made it their goal to demonize teachers for decades now - so forgive me for pointing out you reap what you sow - the good teachers
are mostly gone from public schools and the profession is so demonized that new teachers are not entering the system.
so Republicans brought this on themselves so reading them whine about it ... whatever, dudes.

I have not seen what you are claiming. I have seen the opposite, especially during the Covid shutdowns. They do object to indoctrination and demonizing republican ideology.

The bulk of the problems in schools as far as student performance goes can probably all be attributed to social media and hand-held device usage. Not just direct usage while in school but because of their effect on the personalities and mental states of the kids in general because of their use both in and out of school.

Other factors certainly contribute too, but I believe those two are the main drivers.

You have not seen the dozens of threads started by Republicans claiming that teachers in schools and Universities are "grooming" students
to be liberal, and how despicable teachers are - basically that they are tools of the devil? Somehow I have difficulty believing you on that.

Time to pound one of my favorite drums: student centered funding, aka the money follows the student. You can homeschool your kid or enroll them in private school, but your property taxes continue to fund the sh!t system you yanked your kid out of - you still have to pay for a menu you're no longer ordering from. Hit the schools (and the teachers unions) in their wallets & we'll see real reform.

Yes, they are objecting to these actions, not teachers. I survived LA Unified public school and they do have some legitimate concerns. This reminds me of a movie they played for the class when I was in elementary school.

But Republicans are not stating they are willing to work WITH teachers to help solve problems, they are saying that teachers are bad or evil and
    they are causing the problems.

Republicans have made this their mantra in recent years: Doctors are evil, teachers are evil, scientists are evil, government is evil, media is evil ...
compromise is evil ... Anyone who thinks 350 million people are going reach some universal solutions WITHOUT compromise is simply
    silly.

You are not representing their concerns accurately. Both parties have no issue when teachers, doctors, and scientists are pushing their agenda.

Teachers have no business including sexuality, gender, and political agenda. Its not like they are so far ahead in reading and math that they have all this extra time for this.

Doctors and scientists should not be political prostitutes. Unfortunately, that is the direction we're heading.

They're saying nothing of the kind. There are good cops, and there are some that suck. Ditto teachers. Teachers' unions are another story. I suspect you'll find much more of a blanket condemnation of the unions than their members. Do a search of "teachers union political contributions" & you'll find they're exclusively left leaning. And not just left, but radical left. Ditto too many school boards; it's the issue that dropped-kicked Terry McAuliffe out the back door in deep blue Virginia & swept Glen Youngkin into office.

Don't get me wrong, there are boatloads of horrendous teachers. Here are a handful, in their own words:

I find it amazing that home school kids never have a failing grade. Never even close.
One question I love to give a home school kid when I meet one is....."What happened in the year 1066". That, to me, is basic history yet all I get is a blank stare.

And here's the problem - when you say "boatloads" you're talking about .0001% of teachers nation-wide, but you
make no distinction on that - you post a handful of bad teachers, and call it "boat-loads" thus once again demonizing teachers -
and the fact that you don't even realize this shows the depths that Republicans have sunk to in their rhetoric against the teaching
profession - you don't even realize what you are doing.

Problem is that the teaching profession is so demonized that the teachers who really know how to teach math and the sciences are leaving
the profession or only teaching at high end private schools - so Republican demonization has created a Catch 22 situation - they want better
teachers, but at the same time they think teachers are garbage who don't deserve the wages that the unions are demanding.

So, Republicans. You got a choice. Start respecting teachers or keep a wage earner at home to teach your kids or send them
    to a $40,000 a year prep school.

Or kill public schools and deal with the fall-out of millions of poor kids hitting the streets for whom crime will pay far more than any
minimum paying job will. Is what it is.

This is going to fall on us like it always does. A bunch of little girls are going to be delivering their rapist's baby soon and will probably end her schooling, whereby she can be a breeder stuck in generational poverty and, statistically, those "precious little lives" will feed the conduit into the correctional system, but voting "R". You talked about this several months ago regarding forcing a child to have her rapist's baby.

I don't mean to sound snobbish, but, from where I come from, most recipients of help just say "thank you" when someone else helps them live indoors and buy food. It must be nice to want to rid one's society of people they deem inferior and unwelcome while being subsidized by them. In a way, I guess we are slave labor. LOL
