looks like the mask nazis are out again. It’s a matter of time before they’re screaming at people to mask up again and locking up preachers for practicing their religion while allowing BLM to burn down streets. Round 2 on its way.

Relax. Unless we have a variant that returns us to 2020, I don't see mask mandates at anything beyond healthcare facilities.

I don't see many people wearing masks these days. Do you?

People who have conditions that might put them at serious risk if they catch covid, should continue with vaccinations and wear quality PPE when they're in "places with faces."

These vulnerable folks can protect their health and save our healthcare system a lot of money if they take reasonable precautions and seek help if they fall ill before their condition gets worse. Seems as though they should also consider getting the new RSV shots, too.

So, they should take their chances? What if they want to wear a N100 respirator? Are you going to stop them? Any why shouldn't they get covid boosters? It's their choice, isn't it? Same with the RSV shot. Are you against them getting the RSV vaccine?

I don't care if people choose to wear a mask. I oppose advising them to wear one in the face of current information. I support freedom whenever possible.

I assume you wouldn't advise them against wearing a reusable P100 respirator like this...

    upload_2023-8-6_11-42-36.jpeg

... that costs $30 on Amazon and filters 99.97% of particles the size of the coronavirus. (Smaller particles are picked up because of Brownian Motion.) These could protect people at risk of serious illness from covid.

The same goes for the vaccine. Old people and those in poor health benefit from the vaccine.

Yes, I would advise against it.

You advise against wearing a P100 respirator? One wonders why.

    People in hospitals wear them.

Do you object if the surgical team has to wear them while you are having your CAGs done?

Not at all. Why would I? People are free to wear masks. It is mandates that bother me. What does CAGS mean?

    Germ theory of disease
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scanning electron microscope image of Vibrio cholerae. This is the bacterium that causes cholera.

The germ theory of disease is the currently accepted scientific theory for many diseases. It states that microorganisms known as pathogensor "germs" can cause disease. These small organisms, too small to be seen without magnification, invade humans, other animals, and other living hosts. Their growth and reproduction within their hosts can cause disease. "Germ" refers to not just a bacterium but to any type of microorganism, such as protists or fungi, or even non-living pathogens that can cause disease, such as viruses, prions, or viroids.[1] Diseases caused by pathogens are called infectious diseases. Even when a pathogen is the principal cause of a disease, environmental and hereditary factors often influence the severity of the disease, and whether a potential host individual becomes infected when exposed to the pathogen. Pathogens are disease-carrying agents that can pass from one individual to another, both in humans and animals. Infectious diseases are caused by biological agents such as pathogenic microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, and fungi) as well as parasites.

I thought that it was pretty much agreed upon that that is settled science.

Why are they calling it a theory?

Thanks for the heads up, that we should think about carrying masks with us, at least for crowds (& especially if we are in close contact with an older person, who is at elevated risk). I hadn't heard anything like that yet, in the MSM-- so I appreciate your helpful thread.

I wouldn't have guessed even though I have undergone two bypass surgeries. Why do you recommend reading about cholera? What do you think I would gain from it?

It is amazing how scared the right is of a little inconvenience. Now an expert cannot warn vulnerable people to take extra care without someone screaming “Nazi”! I regularly see people in shopping centres with masks on - some are also bald so you know they are on chemo but you don’t know their history. No one takes a seconds worth of notice

Nonsense. The right opposes government mandates without the passage of laws. Nobody on the right cares about the masks.

Why are you so bothered by her comment? He advice is to keep a mask with you, especially when the fly season starts. So what? She is entitled to her opinion. I doubt many will follow her advice, but maybe some will. Its their choice.

And would you generally also advise that people get their medical advice from doctors, or from anonymous internet posters, with no medical training?
