It looks like we might not be alone. I’ve always believed that there are too many galaxies with billions of stars for life not to exist somewhere else besides here. And no, I don’t believe aliens visited our planet. What do you folks think?
This folk thinks that it just shows we don't know as much as we think we know about the origins of things.
From Fox article: From NASA website: Where is Fox getting that this can ONLY be produced by life? Are these quotes that they are misunderstanding? Or have scientists actually made the bold claim they do? Also, it is remarkable that they can identify a molecule from 100 lightyears away.
We should really look for life on earth first before we get involved with and inevitably destroy some other ecosystem. This chemosynthesis thing going on near deep sea mid-ridge volcanic vents is real interesting. Let's see if we can't wreck that one first and then move on to other planets.
To be fair comparing a barren moon to our oceans in this context is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison.
I don't think much about it. The little I do think about is that a planet with life would be so far away we could never reach it. We need to tend to our own little universe. When we went to the moon we should have said, "That's all folks".
If there is intelligent life on other planet, with the technology to travel space, they probably cruise by regularly with the windows rolled up like you do when you are driving down a street that is full of litter, houses that are delapidated, and with shady looking characters on every corner. We are just not their kind of town.
Aliens stopped visiting the moment everyone got a cell phone with a camera in it! I believe there is life out there somewhere. This is interesting.
I think it's a major leap in the scientific process to declare that based off how little evidence we actually have here.
There's no way Earth is the only planet with life and there's no way the Earth is the only planet with intelligent life. The big question is whether they will take this information and eventually declare that there is life elsewhere or, will they chicken out and say, Well, it's not 100% proof.
