NBA Hall of Famer: Black people need to stop looking for handouts

And yet, the Right claims to practice what the forefathers preached. What a joke. They rant and rave about handouts for the poor while the corporate rich are just as big a welfare queens, and nothing is ever said.

 

Actually right wing CATO said in 2007, before Dubya's great recession which shifted MUCH "welfare" to help those effected, Corps got over twice as much welfare as people did...

 

Yeah well. On average the % of white people using drugs is higher than black people.
Yet black people are arrested astronomically more often than white people on this.
Drug related arrests/crimes are the main focus in the US.
Black people are send in jails longer than white people for the same offence.
Black people don't get off on probation as soon as white people.

This all adds up that the US still has institutionalized apartheid like it's in the 1960's.
The result is that more black people get arrested and are predominantly present in jail.

 

Its amazing how some folks just don't seem to understand that concept.

 

The exception does not make the rule. The bulk does.
And it's a fact that American apartheid rule that only ended 60 years ago, is the cause that Afro Americans on average age 70 are poor as hell. Their children were unable to go to private schools and unable to go to colleges. That costs a heck of a lot of money. You know it. Accept it.

 

No doubt! And all this hooping and hollering by the Right, while the founding fathers preached a different tune. They live by the sword of conveniences and whatever suits them at the time. That is the bottom line. They hide behind the founding fathers up until it comes into conflict with their interests.

The blacks who like to use the crutch won't look at some of the causes that they themselves are responsible for. 72% of black homes having one parent, black fathers in prison, and blacks killing each other sure as hell doesn't help. Think.

Are we to ignore demographic statistics? And if discrimination got us in this mess to begin with, would reverse discrimination get us out of it? Present evidence suggests that's not the case. If we artificially raised the wages of one segment of the population, while the others remained stagnant we'd have class/racial envy. That's a sure recipe for restoring our Republic.

No, the restoration must be complete for all parts of our great citizenry, down to every last kid.

You could have saved yourself the embarrassment of asking ridiculous questions by researching what the FF's said themselves. But then, we all new you weren't going to do that.

 

It's economically a mixed bag, my friend.(Ever since our discussion, I feel as though we've come to a profound understanding of our love for America even if our positions differ). While some people have been able to escape the safety(spider) net, many people are unable to escape namely because of the income limitation. That too, I intend to reform if I'm elected to the PA House. I'm not sure if Welfare is regulated more by federal or by State, but since the State funds it, I think we can play with its rules.

Why should the bottom 40-60% be limited in its income? Aren't they already limited by lack? Let us not limit their potential as well! The government should be the allies of all those who are trying to strive to the Middle Class(and beyond). That's what I intend to bring. Economics/Education is my greatest desire and my greatest legacy. It's my ACA-type fight.

 

try to focus on the issue at hand which is why you are pushing free markets...which just plain don't work?

Can anybody bring up a good example of where blacks are refusing to work and requesting welfare instead? AFAIK every welfare program I've ever seen makes continued benefits contingent upon the recipients continuing and documentable efforts to find work and/or improve themselves so as to make work better and easier to find.

What all you seem to be doing is bashing poor people for being poor in the first place. Just because one makes efforts doesn't mean that the efforts pay off right away, (or at all in some cases) If you're living in a cold water flat it's going to take a little while to move into the Ritz-Carlton, especially if you're a greeter at WalMart.

 

Focus on your far left leaning tendencies and fix them.

I disagree with your very-heavy assertions that 'free markets' never work. Do you work for a living? Have you brought something with your income?(Like say, shoes). Oh hey, that's the free market at work. You traded your labor and capital for produce, which continues to allow you to be a successful labourer and capitalist(yes, as a worker you're also a capitalist IMO. The untapped capital potential in the US is staggering. 300 million Americans, only 20 million businesses. THINK about that.)

 

I'd say he is a very fortunate man who benefitted from the sacrifices of Black men who came before him to integrate sports, . There was a time Blacks weren't allowed to play professional basketball, no matter how talented they were.
I'd also say he needs to put his money where his mouth is. What is he doing to help poor Black kids?

Uh... in re Welfare funding...isn't that the other way round? It is in MD, and I have to assume most of the States are the same. Where would a state get the really massive amounts of money welfare takes when they're always (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about not even having enough for roads? Welfare in MD is funded by the Feds but regulated by the State. (however the Feds regulate that regulation, by the simple expedient of not funding it if what they say doesn't go)
