Government (political) responses to pandemics are... always political. And simply because people need to get involved with formal politics isn't an excuse to call it fear mongering.

Ah yes, the Mu varient which according to the OP started in Colombia... and we need to go to war with China over this? No wonder the US invaded Afghanistan instead of SA.

The jury is still out as to how much more contagious the newest strain is. Interestingly enough, Colombia is seeing decreasing +cases. See for yourself:

    2021-09-012 COVID-19 COLOMBIA 000 - because of the MU variant.png

In the last 5 weeks, the 7-day rolling average for +cases in Kolombien has gone from +6,367 per day to +1,657 yesterday, an almost 4-fold DECREASE in +cases.

    Food for thought.

Oh, and I think you should ask the mods to move this thread into the Covid-19 subforum, because I do think you have started a good thread what would be better served there. @Adfundum

What is your basis for believing that we may go to war with China over this? Facts? Sources?

I agree with you. The vaccines are already obsolescent with the arrival of resistant strains of the virus. Nothing we have tried has brought the virus under control. We know how not to respond to it. Since the virus has a low death rate and that death rate seems to be confined mostly to seniors and people with defined medical problems we should concentrate efforts on those people and let the rest endure infection and recovery. After everybody has developed natural immunity, we should see covid become a seasonal visitor like influenza. Then we can work on ending the creation of weaponized viruses.

Okay weird jeopardy clue but I’ll bite.

“What is Social Darwinism?” Or “what is an obselate social theory because gasp! Humanity society doesn’t work according the same principals as Darwinism”?

I'm not sure why you chose my post to respond with your question since it doesn't relate to anything I said. The definition of social darwinism is available with a quick search with your favorite search engine. Since the concept was discredited more than 100 years ago I would say that the answer to your second question is no it doesn't. The theory of natural selection deals with biology, not the whims of society.

My mistake I misread what you posted as advocating for letting the elderly and those with medical problems to suffer. I apologize

Natural immunity gets obsolete as well. Let's not pretend that natural immunity is better in ANY way.

And, proposing that all Americans should contract COVID is not a legitimate objective.

Yes it does become obsolete. Yes it is better than vaccination almost always. Doctors think it is better but the premise hasn't been tested for covid.

I didn't suggest that people should contract covid. I suggested that it is likely to help more than what we have been doing. We already know that what we have been doing doesn't work. It is my opinion based on the facts. The facts include that the virus is mutating faster than we can develop vaccines and are becoming vaccine resistant. Another fact is that natural immunity is generally better than immunity from vaccination. The most salient fact is that more than 99% who contract the virus will survive it.

I'm not against vaccination. I recommend it. But I can see that we are spending a lot of treasure, fear and power on things that have proven to be ineffective. Reasonable people don't support continuing with things that don't work.

I've cited the CDC multiple times on this nonsense about natural immunity being better in ANY WAY.

So, how about YOU citing some evidence from some serious source of science that has studied this?

CDC is protecting the power and control of government. It knows better but won't communicate that. There are deep state jobs at stake.

Sorry, I don't do requests but I'm sure your search engine is ready for a workout.

All CDC can do is show results of investigations and make recommendations.

So, your first conjecture here is ridiculous.

And, since you can not cite evidence and clearly do not check out your suppositions, why would you suggest someone read your posts?

    At this point, it's irrelevant.

We let so much COVID come in and allowed it to spread so thoroughly that whatever happens at the airports is pretty much totally irrelevant.

Beyond that, why the MOANING about THAT when the only way of addressing this pandemic is vaccination, masks, and avoiding crowds??

    Do you care or NOT?

You have to make up your mind, or your answers are going to look silly

I don't wear panties but I do know what will and won't protect me from a virus. Americans are dumber than dirt, by and large.

Ridiculous to you. Obvious to me.

I did not cite evidence because I don't do that. I invited you to look for yourself. There is no requirement that you read my posts or anyone else's.

True. I do care. I’m vaccinated. I mask up in public indoors. And my family generally avoids crowds. We just can’t force people to do it.

It's almost like you're saying personal responsibility but I know you're not saying personal responsibility because the left doesn't like personal responsibility and tries to avoid personal responsibility.

I think there ARE things we can do.

It's perfectly reasonable to require healthcare workers and first responders to be vaccinated and to mask up.

It's perfectly reasonable for insurance companies to charge more for those who are not vaccinated.

It's perfectly reasonable for corporations to require employees to be vaccinated, or at the very least to charge more for employee healthcare coverage.

    Etc.
