Interesting stats on the voluntary turn in of guns following the Shooting in New Zealand. "New Zealand's Gun Owners Have So Far Voluntarily Surrendered 37 Firearms — Of An Estimated 1.2 Million — Since The Mosque Shootings" https://www.buzzfeednews.com/articl...gun-owners-surrender-guns-christchurch-attack
Except for the simple fact that the surrendering of firearms is not actually a voluntary decision, but one being mandated under legal duress for noncompliance.
I try to be as accurate as possible, especially with gun related topics. I wish they wouldn't use that 1.2 million figure, that is total guns, the number of semi-autos is far less. But still, 37 is almost nothing.
Semi-autos is anything that isn't a bolt action, revolver, or pump shotgun. Semi-auto is a very common gun style.
For sure in the USA, not so in NZ. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattv...w-zealand-bans-semi-automatic-rifles-n2543319 If I read that correctly the number of banned semi-autos is 13,500. Not banned are these semi-autos.
That is the entire point of the story. I really don't care if the number of Semi's in New Zealand is 100. If all they got is 37 that leaves 63 that could jump off a table, head out the door and start shooting up the place. Turn in your guns or else does not work in the real world.
