should it even make it to court, nunes would have a heck of a time proving his case.

So is Ma Bell and these platforms, because of their dominance, are public utilities, like Ma Bell. Just because the financing is different doesn't change that fact. They will get regulated because they are lying saying they are neutral when in fact there is plenty of evidence they are not.

The point is Discovery. It is widely believed that these Social Platforms are deliberately supporting fake accounts that slander those the Left opposes, backed by deep pockets donors.

Devin Nunes has sued Twitter and several, Liz Mair, Mair’s company, and two others who engaged in a coordinated campaign of defamation against him, while Twitter silenced Nunes, deliberately removing his ability to respond.

If that's worthy of a lawsuit, then everyone and anyone who has ever been banned from a web site (including this one) will have grounds for a lawsuit.

In fairness, I cannot help but agree with you. The Colorado baker had a perfect right not to bake a cake that celebrates homosexual marriage. And Twitter, Facebook, et al, should not have to welcome members that their ownership doesn't want any part of, either.

What is Facebook, for instance, that it is so DAMNED important? I had a Facebook account in 2010, used it for a few weeks and then after seeing "the game behind the game" got rid of it like a dirty diaper. What an abusive farce.... I would never, ever have anything to do with Facebook today (or ever again) for a variety of reasons, and I'm sure the homosexuals in the Denver area would not ever go into that bakery where homosexual marriages are thought of as abhorrent. And, if Facebook and/or Twitter went bankrupt tomorrow it wouldn't bother me one bit.

Bottom line -- yes, if you own the business, you should be able to choose your customers. That's true for bakers, Facebook, Twitter, or anybody else in business, IMHO.

    Kudos for rationality :applause:

Nunes' chance of prevailing is remote. The antic only draws more negative attention on Devin Nunes who is keenly aware that Orange county wasn't the only region to flip Democratic. Nunes won by only 12,000 votes while nearby Central Valley districts [i.e 10th 21st] turned Blue. Republicans have 7 out of the 53 congressional seats in California. Nunes is next.

Out of curiosity how does Kazakhstan politics compare to the US? Just astonished that anyone would post such harsh opinions who lives 6,475 miles from America.

Nunes' fate with California voters is his business. There are lots of "dogs in this fight" and my chief concern is for Freedom of Speech for all of us, and what I believe is the correctness of the famous court case, "New York Times versus Sullivan (1964)" in holding that criticism of "public figures" should be legal, and that a person should be able to criticize those who make themselves "public figures" without fear of being sued just because they dared to do so.

I also believe that the owner of a business, whether it's a bakery in Colorado, or Facebook, or Twitter, or whatever, has the RIGHT to choose his customers!

I know, I know... it's not really as simple as that, but if NYT v Sullivan is going to be thrown aside for ANY reason, it should be a very public, BIG DEAL that goes all the way to the Supreme Court.

Has anyone read about the lawyer Nunes has? Multiple suspensions, and one of his last clients was an InfoWars guest who sued NASA for running a child slavery ring on Mars.

He low-balled it. Big time. Butthurt reich-wingers would flood the system with nuisance lawsuits because their favorite Gateway Pundit conspiracy drivel had been debunked.

I'm in agreement. I think a case that challenges NYT v. Sullivan needs to move to the Supreme Court so the idea of public figure and reputational harm can be properly addressed.

Unit NYT v. Sullivan, libel against public individuals was considered far more injurious. NTY v. Sullivan changed that.

For those who are interested in a rational look at the case and the argument for overturning the decision, I would direct them here:

Gotta have something for those secret police enforcers to eat, since you don't have a large enough tax base to actually pay 'em, I suppose...

These are all accurate descriptions of Nunez. He should just own them and quit whining about it. He has used his position in congress to act as a de facto fluff boy for Trump and proudly I might add. As far as being a herp face, that is subjective and open to discussion in my book. The wine he and his friend produce is at best a small step above the pruno produced in toilets in one of the many prisons in his district. He is obviously a lying piece of ****. I think all in all the citizen coverage of Nunez on twitter has been fair and balanced...... And funny as hell. Kudos!!!
