Former President Barack Obama will be honored by John F. Kennedy Foundation's 'Profile in Courage' award this year.
The foundation on Thursday said it is acknowledging Obama for "expanding health security for millions of Americans, restoring diplomatic relations with Cuba and leading a landmark international accord to combat climate change," according to CNN.
The award, which was created in 1989 is given to a government official or group of officials "whose actions demonstrate the qualities of politically courageous leadership in the spirit of 'Profiles in Courage,' president Kennedy's 1957 Pulitzer prize-winning book."
In the past, former president Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush have also been conferred with the award.

Lord if there ever was a less deserving, self serving award recipient, please share.
Obama has no "leadership aptitude" and was inept in his first months when he had both houses of Congress.
Hope and Change became same ole, same ole to working people who struggle harder to stay even and bleed in Executive wars.
If their was a moment, Obama displayed courage, Please Share.

Yes, Obama was merely the Affirmative Action president. And a self serving psychopath per Dr. Carson.
Too bad a Thurgood Marshal or a Colin Powell was not America's first Black President.

    Moi :oldman:
    voted for Obama in '08

Sounds like the rationale for his Nobel Prize. Faulty and without merit.

Exactly where did he display "courage"? He played political games and cast racist claims against any who dared to oppose him. No "courage" required.

I'm glad he is getting some recognition... it is well deserved, he wasn't any worse than his various predecessors in terms of destroying other countries. Had he been like Kennedy, he wouldn't have survived even his first term, leave alone his second. But now, I think, the Americans are going bananas...

I think Bo Jackson would be a president we could all unite around.

Highly intelligent, caring, respectable, American. (Not to mention what many believe to be the greatest athlete of all time.)

Does anyone else see the irony? JFK foundation rewards Obama for lifting Cuban sanctions? We live in strange times.

No, I don't see it. Did Kennedy put the sanctions on Cuba?

    O.k., o.k., I got it!!

Now, Therefore, I, John F. Kennedy, President of the United States of America, acting under the authority of section 620(a) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (75 Stat. 445), as amended, do

    1. Hereby proclaim an embargo upon trade between the United States and Cuba in accordance with paragraphs 2 and 3 of this proclamation.

    2. Hereby prohibit, effective 12:01 A.M., Eastern Standard Time, February 7, 1962, the importation into the United States of all goods of Cuban origin and all goods imported from or through Cuba; and I hereby authorize and direct the Secretary of the Treasury to carry out such prohibition, to make such exceptions thereto, by license or otherwise, as he determines to be consistent with the effective operation of the embargo hereby proclaimed, and to promulgate such rules and regulations as may be necessary to perform such functions.

    3. AND FURTHER, I do hereby direct the Secretary of Commerce, under the provisions of the Export Control Act of 1949, as amended (50 U.S.C. App. 2021-2032), to continue to carry out the prohibition of all exports from the United States to Cuba, and I hereby authorize him, under that Act, to continue, make, modify, or revoke exceptions from such prohibition.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States of America to be affixed.

DONE at the City of Washington this third day of February, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and sixty-two, and of the Independence of the United States of America the one hundred and eighty-sixth.

    JOHN F. KENNEDY

What a joke! But then, again, Libs love to give awards to each other. That's how they validate themselves-- with fake awards. Look at the Oscars....
