Ocasio-Cortez: People Maybe Shouldn’t Reproduce Due To Climate Change .....

Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) suggested on Sunday night that people should consider not having children due to climate change because there is a "scientific consensus" that life will be hard for kids.

"Our planet is going to hit disaster if we don't turn this ship around and so it's basically like, there's a scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult," Ocasio-Cortez said while chopping up food in her kitchen during an Instagram live video. "And it does lead, I think, young people to have a legitimate question, you know, 'Is it okay to still have children?'"

I actually agree with her. The world is grossly overpopulated and the idea of bringing the issue of population reduction to the public attention makes sense. When it comes to the point where overpopulation begins to adversly affect living standards for everyone, it is time to have a intelegent publilc debate.

Obviously not, with world population approaching 8 billion and growing expeditiously. We are depleting the oceans, and over polluting our environment. There is a limit to how many people this rock can comfortably support. The wealthy want to grow population until we are all living in Bangladesh standards, I would prefer to live in a less populated world with a high standard of living.

 

There is a reason Canada is sparely populated, it sucks. Eventually though, even Canada will be over run, probably with Africans and Indians as they have the largest birth rates and their countries are not capable of supporting them.

 

There are geographical areas all over the planet where overpopulation just isn't a problem.

Plus.....Space is the final frontier. Plenty of space.....just sayin.

To distroy nationalism it is necessary to distroy the culture, and mass immigration is the way you do that. Have you ever noticed the link between intelligence and a persons propensity to make assumptions. Overpopulation is not a political issue, it is an undeniable fact. It is also an undeniable fact that the problem is most prevalent in country's which cannot support their populations and where poverty is systemic. Those populations are now mass immigrating to wealthier countries where they are straining social systems and changing politics and culture of the host countries.

 

I'd be careful about calling intelligence into question here, just some advice. You have an opinion. Clearly, as we can and do support the current population, we have not reached over population, have we? Fundamentally, you're opinion is provably incorrect.

Changing public policies to make it financially advantageous to have smaller families should work. So far as false narrative, lake Mead is drying up because Las Vegas population is too large for the water supply. The level of the Great Lakes is dropping due to excessive water withdrawal. The US now exports millions of tons of garbage to other countries because our landfills are nearly all full. Fishing fleets world wide are struggling because the oceans are being rapidly depleted of fish. Farmland is being converted to housing tracks so fast that the US is becoming dependent on imports to feed itself. I could go on for pages but the facts are well known and undeniable except to the hopelessly ignorant. Just how long do you think this kind of population growth is sustainable just so the wealthy elite can continue to prosper from it? How long before we begin wars to obtain whatever resources are left?
Personally I have no dog in the fight, it will not make any difference to me if in 20yrs, there are no more clean water, social programs, or jobs to support the ever growing homeless unemployed populations. Just sayin....
