Very salty sounding... Like I said, my comment was speculative based on the simple fact that no one gave two (*)(*)(*)(*)s about OSU on the court before '06... Anyway, I don't dislike OSU, Sullinger, Craft, Buford, none of those guys... I enjoy talent when I see it, unless said talent plays for the tarholes... But, like I pointed out earlier, it wouldn't happen again...
Salty? No. My Buckeyes just pistol whipped the Blue Devils. Amazed by your "speculative" post? Yes. You do realize that a coach makes a college program, and not a single player, correct? These crazy little things called "coaching" and "recruting" tend to factor heavily on a programs success. Matta came to OSU in 2004 and since OSU has experienced nothing but success. Or did you think Dukes success was based on a top players coming to Duke because they enjoy the weather in Durham? Like the cute little Blue Devil mascot? No - its because they have one of the best coaches in college ball and hes a great recruiter and coach. I can't believe I have to actually explain this to someone.
Do you honestly think I don't know coaching matters??? I never said Matta wasn't a good coach... That'd be like you saying Coach K wasn't great... As far having success since 04, your 07-08 & 08-09 seasons would like a word with you... Those are pretty recent... NIT Champs in 07-08 huh? I'm not too familiar with that tourney... Anyway, I get that you're ecstatic because y'all finally beat a good team this season, but, take it down a notch... You're getting really bent out of shape here... My comment was no more outlandish than say See, same thing... Cept I didn't get upset about it...
Well it's that time.I've waited till this week to get back into Basketball. My Louisville Cardinals are on a roll.Winning all their games thus far.14th straight at home { YUM! Center }. Ranked 6th {5-0} they look like another banner year ahead. I still wonder about Syracuse and Boeheim.Louisville Coach Rick Pitino was The first Asst. coach at Syracuse under Jim Boeheim.
Kentucky looked good last nite against a supposed tough St.John's squad.Kentucky was quick, athletic and agile.Quicker to the boards and loose balls. Tonight it's Louisville { my team } vs. Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt used to be like the very last SEC Team to recruit and play Blacks.Basically an ALL White Boys team, even back in the early 1980's.That was the knock on the SEC.What Great Adolph Rupp had to deal with. When was he gonna set the precedent and recruit and play a Black.Wes Unseld almost went to U.K. The Big Wes,a Louisville product, eventually got turned off by Rupp and selected U O L.Rupp, who seldom if ever went to a Recruits Home to talk with the parents and make a sales pitch, did just that with Wes Unseld.Wes,for some strange reason showed up late to meet and talk with Rupp.Like about an hour late.Rupp said something mild to the press and Wes took it the wrong way and decided Rupp really never wanted him. So,Wes Unseld basically blew off Rupp on account he couldn't make the Adolph Rupp visit on time and used as an excuse some innocuous comment Rupp made about that visit. Unseld wasn't an Uppity. But he came off that way in regards to the Nations Biggest College Icon,or Adolph Rupp and his special visit to the Unseld home.
Louisville had a hard time with Vandy tonight.Looked like throughout most the game Vanderbilt had an edge and was destined to win.But in Overtime Louisville, relying mainly on it's traditional Defense, let Payton Siva do his thing, almost exactly like what he did last year against West Virginia, swirling in towards the hoop with barely a few seconds and finger rolls a nice swish lay up. Last year reguired the backboard. 62-60 the final score. Louisville is short in all it's positions.Short at guard and Forward. Needs another big man.But their starting lineup is quality. When Swopshire is ready and Buckles, they may dominate. Nevertheless the Louisville Cardinals are a force to be reckoned with. Mainly due to coaching and athletic Defense.Kyle Kuric was instrumental with his spot shooting.
#4 Louisville goes against *IUPUI tonight. Louisville is a couple minutes away from another win. IUPUI hit more 3's in the first half than any Team I've seen in a Long time. However that was about all it did.Louisvilles Press and overall Atheletic ability wore down the IUPUI Jaguars. Louisville looks in great shape so far this year. Tonight will be only the 2nd game all season that Louisville scored 80 or more pts. Final ... 90-60 * Indiana University Purdue University at Indiana
UCONN is a 6 point fav over Harvard, at Storrs no less. Harvard has a pretty good team, ranked #24 in the country. Should be a good game.
Last year, a last second shot knocked them out of the Ivy League automatic bid & they were considered for an at-large selection to the tourney. This year, I'll be surprised if they don't make the tourney.
Dick Vitale on Ohio State... http://espn.go.com/espn/dickvitale/story/_/id/7326349/ohio-state-buckeyes-legitimate-title-contender
If OSU keeps playing like they have been, it's going to be a tall order for any team to beat them. They have an absolutely sick starting 5.
With a tad over 9 seconds left The Cincinnatti Bearcats broke out in a Brawl in front of their bench with #8 Xavier Muskateers. It looked like a fight was ready to erupt before the half ended, also. This was in their heated rivalry or Crosstown Shootout. Star center 7 ft. Kenny Frease of Xavier went down in the brawl and had a bloody gash under his eye.The Bearcats were getting blown out in the 2nd half.On replay it looked like Yancy Gates got in Tu Hollaway's face as he pushed him hard in the chest.Hollaway quickly pushed back driving Yancy backwards and to the floor. Both benches erupted with fisticuffs.
Indiana wins on a desperate last second 3 pt. shot. They led through most of the game and deserved the win.I detected some sour graes about the Officiating in the fist half,ALL going Indiana's way.THis is what was needed for Indiana. On a different note,I think perennial troublemaker Yancy Gates may get tossed off the Cincinnatti Bearcats. He's a good player but has always been controvercial.ESPN had Close-up Video of Him Throwing punches, and he was the one who coldcocked 7 ft. Center Kenny Freise who had an open bloody gash under his eye. Turns out that Tweeting before the game may have been responsible for a lot of the bad feeling throughout the game.Words like " Zip em " and " Gangsta ".
What a day! Ohio State & Kentucky go down, UK to an unranked team no less... I don't suspect OSU will lose their spot, and they shouldn't... KU can be tough, and they're the #13 team... Come Monday, I suspect it goes Syracuse Ohio State Louisville Baylor Duke That particular loss is gonna hurt UK... Oh, and the tarholes are currently losing to LBSU... That would be awesome...
Yes it is.Just a few years ago there were 5 technicals called in the first half alone in one of the Cincinnatti/Xavier - Crosstown - games. I guess tomorrow afternoon there will be a decision handed down as to suspensions are forthwith.Obviously since the game was not allowed to finish { 9 seconds left } The officials amending the Box score and ejected a few players. So those ejected players, most notably Yancy Gates will automatically miss their next game.Maybe more than the one.Punching a player is automatic one game suspension. I say there's good reason to believe that Star Cincinnatti player Yancy Gates may get kicked off the team. For Video showing him Coldcocking Xavier Center Kenny Frease.PLus the Cinci Player who kicked Frease when he was down { Cheikh Mbobj } who with a name like that should have his College Admissions score double checked.
My Devils are back on the floor against Western Michigan tonight!!! Hopefully the uber-extended break doesn't hurt em at all... LET'S GO DUKE!!!
