The only people that pitch a fit about energy conservation are the climate change deniers, and each year it becomes more and more evident how utterly wrong they are and how little they care about the consequences of their selfish greed on the lives of our children.
So you should stuff the foot-dragging bullshit and invest in renewable energy development if you want to keep living large.

Anything specific? I'm really interested in what Americans want to fix their country. There's lots of them and us, but rarely any detail.

Yes demand is declining and the government hasn't done any big league overspending in the past few months. The supply problem continues and is likely at the bottom of all of it.

Here's the choice. Start spending more money to pay checks to the people because prices are high. That will cause more inflation. After a while the inflation will make the dollar worth nothing.

The other choice is, get the spending under control. Bit the bullet on conservative monetary policy, which was done in the early 1980s, and ramp up oil production.

If climate change is a big a deal as the socialists say it is, the way to fix it is through a strong economy. If the system is totally broken, people will demand more coal plants and everything else that the left hates. It's happening now in Europe, specifically Germany. China is going full speed a
Biden has cut the supply of gas by stopping new oil leases and doing all he can to damage the industry that is in place. That gives more power to OPEC to once more exercise its control over supplies and raise prices. Biden has said "no more drilling." He said while the cameras were rolling. There is no doubt about his policies. He wants oil prices to go up because he thinks that will force people to use "clean energy."

The U.S. was a leading exporter of energy before Biden took office. Now he's begging some really bad countries, like Venezuela and Iran, for energy. We have gone from a net exporter to a begging importer.

Yes, Putin's war made things worse, but Biden's policies have doubled down it. Now instead of being able to help our European allies, we have beg for energy supplies just like they do. Biden is responsible for all of that. Biden's energy policies have hurt a lot of people, and if we have a very cold winter, it could get much worse.

I've written this countless times on the forum but here we go again. The federal government needs retract to the powers enumerated in the constitution. That would be protecting the nation, dealing and treating with other nations, maintaining a stable currency, resolving interstate disputes and, oddly, operating a postal service. Everything else belongs in the states, the private sector or the trash can as indicated in the 10th amendment. I'm not going to take the time to defend that because I am lazy and it would require writing a book.

But basically the founders were correct in wanting a union of states rather than a central government with provinces. It provides two important benefits. It puts government closer to the people and it establishes some competition between states to manage themselves in a manner consistent with desires of the public. If people don't like their state government, in addition to voting it out of power it also provides for simply moving to another state.

We have a centralized government with states dependent on it financially. People want government to give them things and government wants to do that. It is vote buying and needs to be made illegal. That is what this American wants to fix. I'm all by myself so I wouldn't worry too much about my agenda happening.

    Thanks FMW.
Would such wide diversity in law across the nation cause huge issues for those living on the borders of states?
Would financially independent states mean you'd be happy for some states to be third world and others fabulously rich?
Are there certain things which you feel are particularly important?

no bullet was bitten in the 1980s. reagan. whatever reagan said the actual policy was "two santa claus." spiced with military industrial keynesianism.

if you don't like thom hartman's description of "two sanra claus" you can read stockman's "triumph of politics" or find jude wanniski's old wall st journal articles.

Thom Hartmann: How the GOP Used a Two Santa Clauses Tactic to Con America for Nearly 40 Years - Alternet.org

    ok, here is wanniski's article

    National Observer- March 6, 1976

    By Jude Wanniski

The only thing wrong with the U.S. economy is the failure of the Republican Party to play Santa Claus. The only thing wrong with President Ford is that he is still too much a Hoover Republican when what the country needs is a Coolidge Republican.

These statements, seemingly absurd, follow naturally from the Two-Santa Claus Theory of the political economy. Simply stated, the Two Santa Claus Theory is this: For the U.S. economy to be healthy and growing, there must be a division of labor between Democrats and Republicans; each must be a different kind of Santa Claus.

The Democrats, the party of income redistribution, are best suited for the role of Spending Santa Claus. The Republicans, traditionally the party of income growth, should be the Santa Claus of Tax Reduction. It has been the failure of the GOP to stick to this traditional role that has caused much of the nation’s economic misery. Only the shrewdness of the Democrats, who have kindly agreed to play both Santa Clauses during critical periods, has saved the nation from even greater misery.

It isn’t that Republicans don’t enjoy cutting taxes. They love it. But there is something in the Republican chemistry that causes the GOP to become hypnotized by the prospect of an imbalanced budget. Static analysis tells them taxes can’t be cut or inflation will result. They either argue for a tax hike to dampen inflation when the economy is in a boom or demand spending cuts to balance the budget when the economy is in recession.

the rest of the article, and plenty of other great economic links is at tom dwyer automotive .....

Wrong! Paul Volker, the Chief of the Federal Reserve, was one of the most vilified government officials. The big news in the early '80s was what was happening to the money supply. Interest rates were sky high, and buying homes could only be done with adjustable rate mortgages. You took the chance that the rates would not go up in the future years which would prevent you from affording the mortgage.

Ok, so then you should be able to back up your claim that gas prices and inflation are high all over the world due to US policies with factual verifiable sources, right?

I have learned never to debate a far left Democrat. You are on your side; I am on mine. I wasting my time talking to you.

Yes, Putin's war has been part of the problem, but Biden's policies are another part of the problem.

I’ve repeatedly stated on this forum that I’ve never voted for a Dem not will I ever. I’m pro-2A and don’t want another anti-gun law to ever be enacted. But sure…I’m a far left Dem. Btw…when I told my wife about your claim she nearly choked from laughing.
The side I stand on is the side of backing up ones claims with factual evidence. You obviously are unable to do that. So be it. Thank you.

No, it would still be a federal responsibility to guard the borders. That is part of protecting the nation.

Yes if that is way the states choose to manage themselves. Competition provides strong incentives. It should make all the states stronger financially. Some are more populous than others and have more businesses. It is what it is. It would be for the weaker states to step and grow. As an example I would prefer to live in Wyoming with fewer than a million citizens that in New York which would only populate a portion of Manhattan, the way things are now.

I would also like to see a single term limit for every elected office. Incumbency and re-election are the source of much corruption and eliminating them would likely lessen the corruption. It would require changes to the details of the term of service. But it would require politicians to do something about it and, therefore, cannot happen. Politics works to the benefit of government, not the people. I am furious at the current administration for the economic mistakes it has made that has hurt me personally in an important way. Government is not your friend. The less of it the better.

I think so too. When the U.S. has a bad economy the rest of the world follows traditionally.

And you can provide factual documentation proving the rest of the worlds high inflation and high gas prices was directly caused by US policies? Please show how each policy directly caused other countries inflation and higher gas prices. Thank you.

    I'm not sure I follow you. A democracy isn't a republic...US gov't is a democratic republic or a representative republic.

~ I hope that you are correct. However the way "we seniors " have been voting I would not be so sure. The most unexpected and scary thing about dumbing-down society is that a significant portion seems to be the over 60 population. :-|

When you come back with aggressively Democrat language, what am I supposed to think? Democrats demand that you spend a half an hour searching the Internet to support you position, and then they reject it. You and your wife can laugh, but when you come on like a catfish. If you are a conservative, cut the crap. We need to unite, not play games.

The U.S. was a major exporter of fuels before Biden. Now he’s begging for bad countries for oil. If you think that’s right, you are a catfish. Grow up and help us or stop playing games if you are honest.

You mistake defending economics with “democrat language”. That’s on you.
I’ve called out Biden’s policies plenty of times on this forum. But I will not stay silent when someone doesn’t back up their claim no matter which side they are on. I get you just want me to accept what you say but I don’t even do that with my mother. Screw that. You make a claim you better damn well back it up with factual evidence.
