Open carry has stood the test of time and statistics, there has been no blood baths in the streets !

Yes, and I don't expect anything more than antigunners and gunophobes to have a problem with this. Would not bother me to see more open carry, but the Utopianist might freak out. It is just ridiculous. What about women in dresses? I guess they will have to wear ankle holsters instead of thigh holsters. Defies any logic.

While a step in the right direction, it is just a half ass measure. What sense does it make for a women to be legal to carry an exposed gun, yet be illegal to carry in her purse? I'm betting the no open carry signs will sell big in Oklahoma soon.

Uhhh yeah, and empty cash registers will speak louder than empty words, as gun regulations are proved false, and more CCW proves less murders.

I am all for open carry, my state has always had it. However, I prefer carrying concealed, a stone fish, non threatening unless you step on me.

My state will likely go Constitutional carry as will several others this year... More and more there is a growing division that seems to be resulting in two Americas...

I am not sure of the logic to allow anyone anywhere to carry around an ak
If i am going to the beach, i will prefer no ak
I do not want to change your World.but really
Shouldn't voters have some choice in their environment

When do you part with fantasy and start living life ? sure there is real danger in life,, I am not going to live in fear and waste what little time I have left.

I have a pitbull dog,, he has never bitten me, even joking or playing, he does not bite me, only steals my food !!!!

Statistics are not infallible ! there is always some mathematical risk, and since life is one big random slot machine, you never really know surely when death will strike, so that us why a sane rational person carries a gun, because true psychological life is random and not constant as is logical math.

These legislators know that people prefer CC over OC, whether they carry or not. It will be interesting to see if I notice more open carry. Since the 2012 open with permit, I've seen one person OC. I hope they get this right before my license renews.

Which group of voters should be allowed to have some choice in their environment over others?

Considering open carry has passed, it is reasonable to assume that those who supported it were more vocal and numerous than who who opposed the measure.

It has to do with the "concealed" part of it being in her purse. When you open carry people can see that you have a firearm but when you concealed carry you can basically hide in on your person. It sounds a bit ridiculous but it does sort of make sense. Having it openly on your person alerts everyone around you that you have a weapon on you but hiding it does not.

I do see what you are saying though. Colorado was like that as well. I always found it funny that I could walk into the sporting goods store with my AK-47 on my back but if I wanted to put my Glock .40 in my coat pocket I had to have a license.

I think this is where the misconception comes in to play. I've lived in plenty of states with open carry laws and they don't turn into the Hollywood version of the Wild West with everybody walking around with shotguns and rifles and pistols on them everywhere. When I lived in Colorado it wasn't THAT rare of a sight to see people shopping with pistols on their belt but very rarely did I ever see anybody with a rifle or something slung on their shoulder walking around the mall.

Come to think of it I only ever saw one guy walking around with a rifle outside of a sporting goods store and it was an older gentleman who used to walk around my neighborhood periodically with an AR-15 on his shoulder. My buddies and I would routinely bring our rifles into the sporting goods store to buy ammo, not because we were showing off but because we didn't want to leave them in the truck unattended.

But yeah, it doesn't work like that. Not as many people open carry as you would think. A few people do but I highly doubt you'll see folks on the beach with AK-47s on their back. I have never seen anyone do that before.

Out of all the places I lived I think the people in Louisiana open carried the most out of any state I've seen. That was because most of those guys were swamp hunters who carried their guns with them everywhere. It was a common sight to go to a small diner and see half the folks sitting in there with AR-15s at their feet.

But I wouldn't worry about it, you can live in an open carry state and it's very possible to never see a person with a rifle on their shoulder in public. People just don't do that very often because rifles are bigger and more of a pain to walk around with. If people want firearms on their person they tend to walk around with pistols which are usually concealed anyway.

    The law doesn't allow that.

    Then don't take one.

    Yes you do.

They made that choice when the elected their legislature and governor.

While 8 states have Constitutional carry now, states with CCW reciprocity agreements require CCW licenses regardless of whether a person is from a CC state. So, for travel, getting and carrying a CCW license might be a good thing to do...at least until nation reciprocity happens.

    https://pjmedia.com/trending/2016/1...fifty-state-concealed-carry-reciprocity-bill/

Note, bullet 3 regarding forcing DC to recognize out of state permits.

I have two permits, one a non resident FL license, the pair work in 40 states.

This has only passed the house. My title gives the appearance that it has become law.

Rights are more important than people's comfort with them. I am uncomfortable around the kkk or black panthers, but I still would not ban them from being allowe to make a public display.
