Wow; the liberal Hollywood elites don't want the truth told; they want a fairy tale and a "story" about MLK. Look.....he had some flaws; he was also a great man in many ways. Why the effort to make him seem as if he was a perfect man....when he clearly was not?

"With Martin Luther King Jr. Day right around the corner, Oliver Stone announced Friday that he is no longer on board to write and direct a biopic about the Civil Rights leader. Stone took to Twitter to explain that his rewrite of the script, which dealt with “issues of adultery, conflicts within the movement, and King’s spiritual transformation” was not well received by producers. It’s unclear how or if Stone’s leaving will affect Jamie Foxx, who was attached to star in the DreamWorks and Warner Bros production."

And here's a Tweet from Stone about the reasons:

"Oliver Stone ✔ TheoliverStone
I’m told the estate & the ‘respectable’ black community that guard King’s reputation won't approve it. They suffocate the man & the truth."

I'm neutral on this one. I'm not sure I'd trust Oliver Stone either.

Stone's crazy JFK movie makes me question any bio pic he does. It is no secret that MLK was no saint. That he had all kinds of crisis of faith and that he struggled with others in the civil rights movement. I would love to see what Stone wanted to write.

No, it's not yet time to present MLK as he probably was in reality versus how the MLK worshipers have built him up as a saint, and that's because Barack Obama -- the nation's once highly touted First Black President -- looks like he is heading towards 'crash and burn' territory as he beings his sixth year in office. Had Barack been a competent president, then perhaps a more or less truthful and accurate MLK movie could have been tolerated by the Left which after all adores pointing at the warts and personality blemishes of national heroes. But as it stands now, not with Barack continuing to fall flat on his face despite everything that an increasingly unhappy mainstream media can do to spin and cover for him.

I suspect that only Spike Lee could have gotten away with presenting the 'real' MLK to the nation . . . and perhaps even he is not that gutsy.

Yeah we probably need another generation or two of sainthood before any real scholarly work can be done on his life.

Besides, Oliver Stone would probably have the Smoking Man behind King's assassination.
