The difference is that in today’s world, Jews act respectfully towards other religions and cultures, while Muslims, and many others it seems, generally treat Jews as second class citizens. It seems perfectly acceptable in many circles to make jokes about Jews, where if you make jokes about Muslims then you are an Islamaphobe.

As far as refuting statements by rabbis who speak out of wishful thinking and influenced by concepts of modern society, I’ll just say what the hell is wrong with that? That is a good thing! Jews and Christians have changed their points of view radically over the centuries. They are now generally far more to,errant than Christians and Jews of previous centuries. There aren’t any crusades, or witch trials, or inquisitions, or any of that going on anymore. Christians and Jews are very friendly with each other. Many Muslims on the other hand, continue to wage jihad and treat non believers as second class citizens.

Even the Catholic Church is accepting of homosexuality and women’s rights. Not so much in the Muslim world.

Quit worrying about old books, and look at the at the actions of groups in today’s world. The world was a different place when the Talmud was written, and the attitudes in them were likely necessary for Jewish survival.

The Middle East has long been the center of ignorance in the modern world, largely due to Islam, so they'll naturally look to others to blame rather than themselves. Why would I do that when I’m sure that there is plenty in the Talmud that is still applicable to today’s world? Would you go and ask a Muslim to denounce the Quran? Should Christians reject the Bible because it has a few parts that don’t work with today’s world, like the parts against homosexuality?

Ignore the bad parts that don’t apply to today’s world, and embrace the parts that are still applicable today. What’s so hard about that? From what you posted, that is what Rabbis are doing, but the author of the article doesn’t seem to like that Judaism is trying to fit peacefully into the modern world. Islam seems like it is much less willing to adapt.

True. It doesn't apply to everyone. It is an obvious position in many. I suspect many more people on the right attack islam. None of this changes what I said above.

 

I guess, because the Christianity the Left criticizes is mostly long gone. The crusades happened a long time ago. Muslims however, are chopping off people's head as I type this. They still force women to cover up. They still inbreed. They still want Sharia Law. There really is no comparison in comparing current atrocities.
