    ... from a group or artist you normally don't like...

    For me it's Randy Newman.

    I don't like much of anything he does; he doesn't excel at any one thing and is just mediocre at best as a piano player, singer and composer.

    I wouldn't even want to own his greatest hits album.

    But every dog has their day and there is one song of his I kind of like...

    Country music is not something that I have listened to a great amount, but this song is personally meaningful to me, and I like it. Aside from the fact that I find Garth Brooks less than a man.

    I never was much of a fan of Jackson Browne - I got burned out listening to the Running on Empty album. But, this earlier song has David Lindley on slide guitar and Elton John on piano, and it's about his only song I can listen to repeatedly --

    "September Rain" from GnR- a totally sucky gay band with at least a good guitarist.

    Caught Johnny Cash singing "Bird on a Wire" on the teevee- I am sure it's on YouTube... I like good L Cohen adaptations.

    Also into "Never Let Go" by Tom Waits.
