I know that crossing in remote areas in between official border crossings is a crime. It appears as though the pain and suffering associated with these poor border policies is an acceptable price for the political benefits it brings.

I don’t deny the “ bill is crap”. From liberal point of view there was nothing in that bill. Liberals/ Dems have been fighting for comprehensive immigration reform for past 30 years and there was not a single provision in that bill.

On the other hand GOP wants total border security, which means not a single undocumented immigrant cross the border, GOP also wants 15 million undocumented in USA send back to their homeland. The bill allows 5000 migrants to come to USA each day.

I understand the bill is crap. But it is better then nothing. Right now unlimited migrant can cross the border and seek asylum and stay in USA indefinitely. That bill would limit the migrant to 5000. You are a smart guy, which one is better, unlimited migrant come to use or 5000?

You know very well that Trump will not win WH. And after redistricting, the advantage GOP had in the house is gone. Most likely the House will go to DEMS and Senate will go to GOP and Biden will be POTUS in 2025. That means the kind of immigration bill GOP would like to have will not happen in another 4 years.
